Ha anyone noticed the wild dewberry blossoms this year. Around here they are in full bloom and it looks like it's going to be a bumper crop.

This morning I saw another sign of warm weather coming. I take Dee, the Chihuahua, for a walk along trails in the woods in a local Community Park most mornings, and she almost stepped on a Copperhead this morning before I saw it, and she apparently never noticed it. I don't know why it didn't bite her. I usually leave the snakes alone, but I killed this one and measured it; just a fraction of an inch under 24".

That would've put a hurt on Dee if it had bit her. Glad y'all are safe.

OK, the great Texas first purple dewberry race is on. Lou will probably win but I had a few bloom 10 days ago.

Down here we call them blackberry.. my fence line is nothing but little white flowers.. now I need to get the field dry enough to get to them.. it is still wet here.. I got standing water on the back pasture.. my gator is the only thing that can go out there.. wide tires and low pressure.. lol..

Well it's finally dry enough to get some tomatoes planted today. Yesterday stopped at the Feed Store and got some Celebrities, Romas, large Cherry Tomatoes and a couple of Heirloom Tomatoes(Cherokee Purple). These will help get us back on schedule. By this time I normally have most of my garden in, but the mud season has delayed us this year.

By the end of this week I hope to get the rest in. Lots of Basil, Cucumbers, Egg Plant etc. Can't wait for Salad Season to start.
