Besides Kyle and I , is there anyone in Texas who did not get rain In August so far? We are holding out for the gully washer.

Today was the second time this month that I've gotten about .03" of rain, so I guess I'm 0.12" ahead of you, but the dirt in my yard is sure dry and hard.

Yehaaaaw! We got 3/4 of an inch yesterday afternoon. Lots of wind, and the power was out for about 2 hours, but we really needed the rain. For once my timing was perfect. I had just fertilized a bunch Bermuda that I had seeded in the front yard right before the storm came in. Now I can skip all the watering that I've had to do.

Charlie
Charlie, do you usually plant Bermuda this time of year? We are preparing to plant rye in a couple of months.

In an earlier post, I mentioned that my yard was really green this year. Because I've been lucky with rain showers, the yard really looks better than ever. Anyhow, I promised to take some pictures, so I got a few this morning with my cell phone while moving sprinklers. You can't really tell we are in drought by these photos thanks to a great well.

Have you considered that he got his user name from drivin' one of these AMC Pacers?
:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Jim,
I thought you would have come up with a pacer yacht or at the least a pacer dinghy :boat: :D

I've been learning about "bacon revenge" this week.
Yesterday I was eating one of my favorite sandwiches, tomato and bacon on toast, and I got an excruciating pain between
tooth 13 and 14. Probably like what the snake felt when Brandi :cowgirl: gave him a 22.
A piece of crisp microwaved bacon apparently turned on edge and went vertical. It split the whole outside of 14 off and it was just hanging
by a little gum.
My dentist had retired so next was finding a new dentist that would take me as a work in. After an hour in the chair they had removed the broken side, built a plastic temporary cover on what was left and fixed a hole in a tooth on the other side. So I had my first solid food tonight and will go back in 6 weeks to get the broken tooth ground more for a cap.
That may cease my desire for bacon for a while, or my ability to afford it from the dentist bill

Two days of running to town:thumbdown:
Once every 2-3 weeks is plenty for me.

Really looks great. How tall do you cut the grass?
Reminds me of the grass in "that old ghost town on Plum Creek in Hamilton county" ;)

Ron, I cut with my mower at it's highest setting. It says 4.25", but I think it is more like 3.5" in actuality. It makes a huge difference in the way it looks to cut it as tall as possible. I have no intention of doing the amount of work that golf courses do to their fairways.

Pacerron,
So were you in aviation? Or just an aircraft admirer?:confused2:
hugs, Brandi

Brandi,
I'm a survivor of it:)
My real experience in aviation was in the USAF as a civil engineering officer.
We had everything to do with facilitating aircraft from building and extending runways in the US
to building temporary landing facilities and operations in bare places and building "wonder arches"
at remote bases in other countries to protect the aircraft while on the ground. That required an in depth knowledge of aircraft.
I have always been fascinated with aircraft and the pace of their development in my lifetime. Watching a roll in tandem pairs with the afterburners kicking in from up close is a heart throbbing experience.
I have a friend who has a Piper PA-32-260 6 seater which is a plane with a beautiful profile that we fly in, but he also has a Cessna 170 that I prefer
for the high wings so I can hang out the window and take pictures. Haven't dropped anything yet:)

Don't worry, I won't be posting any pictures! At least none where I am not in the woods and trees! I'd hate to scare some of you!

Hey fellas, I have FG19 rain dance photos, I will post them later:D

Jim your grass does look good, much dryer here I think, I have had around 1/4" today though.

Been trying to solve one of lifes biggest "mysteries" while working, you know, something important. Maybe one of you can help? If you choke a smurf, what color does he turn?????:confused3::laughing:

Finally got some more rain. About .4in in the gauge this afternoon. This may take us into fall for green grasses on pasture here in Oglesby area.

Jim, my father is on a well and has found that osculating sprinklers do not work. I guess because the pressure varies. ?? What is the best sprinkler that I can recommend for him for his well pump.
