I'm sure jealous of the rain! He always manages to get more rain than I do. I'm about to turn under my squash and get that area ready for planting for fall squash, and hope for fall rains.

My thermometer says it's 77 F right now. Excuse me FG19, I have to go outside and be cool.:D

There's only a 30 degree difference between your thermometer and mine. 107.4. But it's a dry heat.

Then I should feel cool here, sseelhoff, because I am only 100.2!

Well folks, I had to come back inside 'cause it started raining again. While I was out on the deck, I noticed my rain gage said 1/2". The forecast was for 30% chance of rain today and I'm a happy guy. I held off watering my yard just for the odd chance it would rain, and it paid off. I know we're probably the only place in Texas it is raining right now. I'd get us all a shower if I could, but I ain't turning this down. Must be some lightning somewhere too because my power keeps dropping off for half a second or so.

Farmgirl, if I get all the rain, why ain't my ponds full? I wish we'd all get 5 or 6 inches. An inch a day for the next week would put a smile on everyone's faces.:)

BTW: I've been pickling this afternoon. I made 15 pints of B&B pickles. 10 pints of cucumbers and 5 pints of squash and zucchini pickles. Every day we get 2 or 3 zucs and 3-5 yellow squash. The okra is going bonkers and the blackeyes are on their 2nd wind. Heck, even my tomatoes have started making a good 2nd crop. I have to make salsa tomorrow.

I think it would take 3 inches of rain, in a short time, just to get me some runoff. My 2 acre tank is just a mudhole, right now. 6 inches of rain would make me happy, for now!

Well, karma got me for braggin'. My power has gone off and I'm running my laptop through my router powered by a backup battery. I shut the rest of the desktop and equipment off to conserve my backup battery. I have two generators if required, but Wise Electric Coop says they are aware and working on the outage.

I would say, "It serves you right", but if I was getting rain like that, I'd be braggin' too!

While your braggin' on battery back-up let me say how great the combination of your deer fence and a trap box baited with dry cat food worked this week, here. Monday we caught a possum and today a coon. The coon had gone under the fence and tried to drag a corn stock out with him but it got caught up in the net. That confused and exasperated him so he went to the trap box and ate the cat food.
No damage to the garden this summer at all by animals and the season is just about done. We planted a sweet corn variety this year called "You Gotta Have It" I must say it is the best corn I have ever eaten, and I have tried lots of varieties.
My wife calls the fence, "the jinman fence". There's some braggin' for ya:thumbsup:
Ron

Yep, hot and dry with a 10% chance of rain in the forecast. This morning around 7 a.m., I took the dog for a walk in the woods and actually saw a few tiny rain drops; not enough to qualify as a "trace".

Well, power came back on at 8 PM sharp. I'll trade 3 hours without power for 3/4" of rain any day. Who needs to watch the news anyway. I'll get my update on all the craziness at 10 PM so I can sleep peacefully.:laughing:

Holy smoke! The sky just opened over my house and it's raining buckets. Runoff and the whole nine yards. Woohoo!!!

Jim,
Did you see any naked ladies outside dancing? I hope you had your buckets out for your friends here. I could use a bucket full or two.
hugs, Brandi

BRAGGART! It is severe clear (and hot) here!

Well, I gather you have been itching over dancing. We suppose to have scattered showers Sat. and Sun. That means it will scatter away from my place.
hugs, Brandi
