Brandi's advice for maintaining a safe distance from surrounding traffic :cool2: :drink:

Houston traffic makes you love driving a huge vehicle. I used to drive a VW Fox wagon and then a Jeep Cherokee. Not any more..........give me my dually for commuting. It's really fun with an empty trailer. Just drift a little to the lane stripes.............and everyone moves a lane over from you. Or bob you head a little and weave a little and eveyone backs off 200 feet, thinking you are falling asleep!
hugs, Brandi
Several years ago I watched a fella in an old pickup change lanes so quick behind a dually that he failed to notice the bumper pull trailer! Thankfully it was empty and the only vehicles that got involved were the idiot and the dually driver. I had backed off before it ever happened cause I watched the idiot coming up from the back constantly switching lanes and in way too big a hurry. Something my trucker Dad taught me. In traffic you need to be the driver in every vehicle you can see. Your own training and sense will keep your vehicle straight. Watch the other fool.

The relative humidity in Death valley is 19 percent. The RH in Dalhart TX is 4 percent. Please resume your normal high humidity sweaty jobs.

Dennis,
I've never been to Houston.
Spent about 6 months a couple hundred miles SW of there back in 1966. That was enough Texas for me.:D

I remember vividly the words, "If you think your gonna get sick from the heat, and puke, you better do it in your cap and not
on my drill field"

The last time I saw Houston was on January 23, 1991. We were in Port Aransas, visiting my parents, when we got word that my wife's father was in the hospital and not expected to live. So we left our fifth-wheel in Port Aransas, and got away about 3 p.m. and drove straight through overnight to Princeton, WV. Of course we were in a one ton dually. The worst traffic was in getting through Houston that evening and the worst weather was the incredibly bad snowstorm when we turned north at Birmingham, AL. In fact, it was so bad that I stopped and bought a set of tire chains, but didn't ever put them on. After 100 miles or so, the roads were clear the rest of the way.

I went down there a couple of times on business and we considered Houston a foreign country even in the late 70s.
