And in addition to the heat, we've had a small skunk in our back yard a couple of times at night in the last week. Sure have to be careful about letting the chihuahua out at night. The city animal control guy has some traps you can borrow at no cost; just a $50 deposit, but I just talked to him and they're all out right now. So now I'm trying to decide whether to buy my own.

Bird, You've practiced your marksmanship for a lot of years for situations such as this.

Or lemonade, margarita, pina colada, or possibly even an ice cold barley pop. :)

Or, better yet, an air conditioned cab tractor. Another reason to buy one is, West Nile virus, they just had their 1st fatality in Austin Tx. and all they would say is that the man "was in his fifties when people are more susceptable to these kinds of things" I'm saying Holy Cr*P, almost everyone I know on the board is about that age so....

So it get's the young'uns first?

Yeah, and I could handle that just fine, but here in town I'm afraid they'd take a dim view of that.

Bird, if you where closer I'd let you use mine. $50 deposit?, they wont come trap it for you?

I'd loan Bird my trap, but I'd charge the $50 deposit. It's not that I worry he won't bring it back. I just want to make sure he gets rid of the skunk before he does.:D On 2nd thought, maybe $50 isn't quite high enough.;)

Bird, I have the same set from TSC. I'm not sure what the smaller trap is used for, but I have it if I ever need it.

Jim, the skunk we've seen is small enough that it's gone through the chain link fence. So I just finished setting both traps, baited with sardines in soy oil.

Ron, if I get a skunk in the trap, all I'm going to do is call for the animal control guy and watch from a respectable distance. I don't know whether he's allowed to shoot them or not.

With your bait you may get some neighborhood kittie's of a different color:)

Yes, we've had some feral cats in the area and when I used the city's trap before, that's what it was for, and I did trap 2 of them and gave them to the animal control guy. None of the neighbors with whom I am acquainted have a cat. It's either dogs or nothing.:D
