By the looks of his ears his own reflection must have scared him a bit. Kinda like some of us old guys when we look in the mirror to shave once in a while.:D

I get scared twice. First when I see that old guy standing behind me and then again when I realize it's me.:eek:

Total so far.. Drum role please.......2.96" Whooot!!!!!!!!

That's just a little more than 2" more than I got. I figure mine at .94". I WISH it had been even more, but I'm thankful for what we got.

I ended up with 1.75", and like you, Bird, am thankful for it. Not every July one can get rain and cooler temps.

Thats the most you have had in ,,well forever!!! This summer anyhoo

Dang! Dennis, I think I'd just spit in that rain gage and call it 3" even.

Right!! Best thing, it was the perfect kind of rain, some drizzle and some downpours!!

Mine was all slow and steady, so no downpours. Pastures will be happy for a few more weeks. Maybe they will last until time to overseed with rye!

Hey! It is sprinkling again here! Maybe not add much to the gauge, but at least keeps temps good, and also stalls the evaporative process.

Sprinklers didn't last long. Sun appears to be coming out, for the first time in a couple of days. Gonna be steamy before humidity levels drop.

On another note...I ended up with 4 eggs in teh little bird's nest. Last egg was in on July 6. Not sure how long it will take them to begin hatching, but I get a peek sometimes, when momma bird goes to eat!

I do believe it's pouring rain at Don's place right now. We are just getting a trickle.

My two new ponds have never filled up and were really pretty low after the long period of drought. However, this rain has helped to restore their levels by raising them up about 2-ft each. Normally, this amount of rain would raise them a lot more, but it has come very slowly and soaked in. The evidence of this rain won't be the pond/tank levels, but rather the greener grass. It's so nice to also drive up my county road and see green trees instead of white dusty trees and clouds of dust from vehicles on the road. When I'm in my garden, a hillside blocks my view of the county road. However, when I hear a vehicle, I can just look up and see the direction of the developing dust cloud to tell if it's coming or going. For a couple of days, I won't be able to do that.

Bird: We went to Sam's on University Dr. in Denton today. It was obvious that Denton did not get the quantity of rain as we did in western Wise County. However, this evening, it looks like you are getting another shower coming up from the southeast right through Corinth.

Jim, just about the time you posted that, the bottom fell out; heaviest rain we've had in a long time, preceded by some pretty good wind gusts (not damaging though) and accompanied by some thunder. We lost the satellite reception twice for short periods of time while they were introducing the All Star players. But this storm cell was fast moving; only put a little over a tenth of an inch in the gauge before settling down to a light sprinkle. So I guess I'll go watch the All Star game.

Sun is shining here. Rats. Not even a trace of rain here today. It tried. Poured in Seguin.

Kyle between 5 and 7 tonight we got 1.25".

Sunday, when the first thunder was heard, that was lightning hitting the internet tower, we have had no service for 3 days, but we are up tonight. We are at 3" of rain since Sunday and a light rain is still falling!!!!!!!
