Hello All,

Now that I am up to four attachments, I have been thinking of a better way to store them. I live in New England, and our weather can be a bit...challenging. Right now, each attachment sits on a wooden pallet and is covered with a tarp that is tightened with a ratchet strap. I have been looking at ShelterLogic canvas structures and have thought how great it would be to be able to keep all of my attachments under that kind of cover, ready to go.

The problem is that every structure I have found only opens on the narrow ends. To make this work for attachments, it would need to open on the long side. 10' depth and 20' width would be perfect for four or more attachments. Stacking them inside from a narrow end makes no sense whatsoever.

Has anyone wrangled with this? Has anyone heard of a tent structure that can be accessed from a long side? Any other good ideas for attachment storage other than tarps and straps?

Thank you.

I would forgo a tent and just build a simple lean to type equipment shed or a pre fab carport type.

My attachments are in a Shelter-Logic on pallets. I have a Grapple, PHD, Box Blade and a Sub-Soiler. My next attachment purchase will be a set of Forks so I can run things in and out easily.

You can also buy a second roll-up door kit for the other end to make things easier.

Thanks Dusty. I was actually going for the prefab carport. I just haven't been able to find one with access from a long side.

Ditto what Dusty said. For me, it was a few juniper posts, a few 2x4s and some scrap roof tin. If you like the soft top approach for whatever reason, and need some style, Google 'fabric parking shade'.

Thanks Doofy. I hear what you are saying. But wouldn't it be so much more convenient if you could just open a section of the long side, back in, hook up, and pull out? I actually called ShelterLogic and spoke with one of their people. "That's a great idea," he said. "I will bring it up at our next monthly meeting." So maybe they will have such a thing in the next couple of years.

I should start ImplementShelter and retire rich.

If these sheds had longer open sides the snow loads would wreck them and tear the fabric as they would have no hoops to support the fabric AND a roll up door would be wrecked in no time at all. YES, I HAVE TWO OF THEM.

Check with the folks at farmtec | a smart farming company as they have small solid fiberglass quonset hut sheds with a wide opening but no door.
They have a ground anchoring system that comes with each fiberglass hut.

The Shelter-Logic shelters also have horizontal braces between each rib for strength and rigidity. The idea is good though.

What about steel shipping containers? 2-3.jpg

My vote is for a Loafing Shed. That is about all the energy I can muster.

Look up loafing sheds or horse sheds from the metal carport sellers around you.
they will build any size you want.

Hi Leonz,

I clicked on their website and it's all about eggs. Nothing about Quonset huts. Not eggsactly what I was looking for...

I can already see the twinkle in my wife's eye when I tell her I need a loafing shed...

Thank you all, very much, for the suggestions.

The wives think that is all we do anyway...

I put up a shelterlogic and will say, they retain water and humidity. I tried putting down plastic to keep the moisture down, but the squirrels got in and shredded it, but that's a different issue. I would recommend something with ventilation.

Following. I'd love to clean up my attachment area and get things undercover as well as out of sight. I have a landscape rake, pine needle rake, snow plow, power rake, bush hog and finish mower out next to my shed.i haven't heard much complaining, but I hate the way it looks.

I'm not sure if you have Costco in the NE, and even if you do you may have missed the annual supply of portable garages, but theirs is fairly high quality, cheap ($250-ish?), 10x20, and does indeed open in the middle. You could load from either end and the middle.

Would you blow snow off regularly to keep it from collapsing under the weight? For a less labor intensive long-term solution, some of the admittedly more initially expensive ideas in this thread may be useful. But Costco has what you want if you still want it.

Almost. I can only access one end and the side. Not sufficient for my four attachments.
