I tried that the other day and can try it again tomorrow. I had a bad angle and couldn't perceive any movement but can try that again
Other than the head removed, have you split the tractor? I only say this since splitting the tractor would remove any doubt the transmission is preventing the engine from spinning.I might even dump a can of coke in each cylinder
You and I have the same hunch about something else not letting the engine to freely turn. Splitting the tractor is the only way to eliminate the question. And if this is the case, the repair can be way cheaper to fix overall.That all looks very clean and good.
I have to wonder if there is something else locked up in that engine.
In or under the flywheel, maybe the wrong bolts used in a pressure plate or something in the front gears.
I would not be so pessimistic. It seems to me that you have already demonstrated quite a bit of competence. People here can help if it is necessary, at least with advice.That may be the case, which I hope it isn't. That will be outside of my ability
