Stuck, really stuck

Digging a watering hole for deer (low lying land, water table is just six or so feet down). Going great, hit the water - now to clean up the dug out slop. That’s where the “fun” started. Using the bucket to smooth it out and 1.5’ from the hole was too close, all tires stuck and just a bit of spin and I slide backwards/left into the hole. Three tires are out of the hole - but rear left and the backhoe are in the hole. LS 342 shuttle shift

Tried hooking a chain to my 2500 Cummins but couldn’t get enough traction.

Debating whether my 12k warn and a snatch block will do it. Oh! And now it’s raining so move quick before half the tractor starts practicing to work as a submarine…

Can't use the backhoe to shove/lift yourself clear? Maybe someone driving while you operate the hoe?

Nope, tried and only made it worse- turns out that side of the whole the ground is basically quick sand. The only way out is forward (absent use of much larger machinery). Part of the problem is that backhoe - it is heavy and the part furthest in the hole. To the point it is now resting against the backside of the hole.

If you have a good tree or other anchor, chain to top of loader and use the curl to pull, works well just not a lot of travel at a time. Chain shorteners are handy....

Recommend covering the hole up before it causes even more trouble , deer usually don’t have any trouble finding water.

I’ve done it before. Buried many to the floorboard. The worst part is getting other vehicles stuck trying to pull em out. Truck, truck, tractor, dozer…finally pulled em all out with a combine.
Snatch block works well. Make sure to put something over the connection point to help prevent SnapBack. You don’t want to send a hook through an headlight, your windshield [or worse]. Good luck and keep us posted. Share some photos of your adventure.

In the meantime, while you figure it out, chain the tractor to a tree or something to keep it from sliding in more.

If you have a couple of snatch blocks, that would help I would think. Borrow a couple hundred feet of chain to get your pulling vehicle on solid ground.

I always got stuck where there was nothing to tie off of. Never failed. Use the winch. Trying to 'snatch' it out is usually a waste of time and a little on the 'Hold My Beer and Watch This' side.

Be careful the tractor doesn't tip over. If you can't tie the rear of the truck off to something (assuming the winch is on the front) I've used a Boat Anchor. What happens is, your tires give it up. Can't hold. So I put a heavy Danforth Anchor on a chain and tied the truck off.

Good luck, and I'm not being Grandma here but be careful. Seriously, those situations been known to kill people

Lots of good suggestions. Fortunately this part of my property is mostly forest so lots to tie off.

My winch is now in a hitch mount (traded my 1500 and lost the front mount I had), but I have front hooks and the plan is to tie off the front of the truck.

There is no other reliable water on my property (one thing I don’t like about this land) and I’m trying to draw Sika on to the property.

I’ll grab some photos to allow yall to enjoy the stupidity on my end

I've been stuck in ponds, all of them by now I think, creeks and slid down a steep hill like 50 yard to the real mud .
Been in the mud almost to the seat once.
Never same recovery twice, worst was way out in the big pond, like 150 yards during a drought. Had to use mats and jacks to get tractor up on top again and then lay mats to get to dryer ground after the jacking was done.... Never again, now I try to get stuck closer to shore.

In a my smaller deer pond I chained to a tree and eventually got enough momentum (many back and forward lurches) to slide sideways out of the hole. All because I did not want to make the walk (good mile) to get the other tractor.

Don't asked about having to pull golf cart and zero turns...
