STILL LOOKING/855

FOR SOME REASON I HAVE NOT YET GIVEN UP ON THAT 855 I MENTIONED ABOUT 10 DAYS AGO. ANYONE KNOW MUCH ABOUT MODEL 52 FEL ON JD? LOCAL FRIEND TOLD ME THAT THE 2WD WOULD NOT DIG IN TO A LOAD OF DIRT IN ATTEMPT TO LOAD WITH FEL,/COMES W/TURF TIRES ON REAR AND 2 EXTRA AG TIRES AND RIMS FOR REAR. IS THERE THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE IN 2WD & 4WD ? TRACTOR NEEDS LOTS OF WORK BUT $4000-4500 W/BK HOE INTRIGES ME.PART OF ME WANTS TO RESCUE THAT OLE 855 .DUMB IDEA??

Does not sound dumb to me at all, provided the basic tractor is not in too bad shape - sure would be nice to have a backhoe! A leaking or bent cylinder on the loader is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I would not sweat the 2WD on that 855. I have a 455 which has the same setup (2WD and differential lock) and I can load dirt with the loader just fine, and I'm a lot lighter. You'll have plenty of weight with that backhoe attached, and you can always add a toothbar if you need to.

Keep in mind that if the backhoe can be made to work for not too much $$, it's worth the entire asking price, so if something goes wrong you could part it out and get your money back pretty fast.
