This appears to be 10 year old news, but I only happened upon it yesterday. Stihl made an experimental Jet chainsaw using a jet engine modified from on that would be used in large RC jets.

It's the shock loads on the gear reduction that is the Achilles heel on turbine powered stuff.
They require something like a fluid coupling along with a speed reducer.
