snow pusher on 4720

I am going to build a snow pusher for my 4720, I have the CX loader with skid steer mount. What I am wondering is how wide do you think I can go. I have an old 8' and a 6.5' snow plow moldboard that I plan to convert. Any of you guys have one on yours.

I push a 7 1/2foot Fisher with my JD3320 with no issues.

I use a 7 ft Frontier front blade that replaces the bucket. I have not had any problems.

thanks for the input my concern is more once I convert the blade from an angling snow plow to a snowpusher. the amount of snow the pusher can cradle could be an issue I may just cut the 8' moldboard down to 7' just to be safe.

If I had that size tractor then I'd use the 8' plow and rig it to at least take a 15 deg angle (manually if not hyd.). Even straight, it will handle 8' plowing, no problem IMO.

I have the 4300 with a 7' Western blade, and that is handled with ease. Just incredible what can be bucked away straight ahead.

You can always cut it back if for some reason the 8' doesn't work. But can't wish for more (like I do).

I would go with 8'. If the snow is heavy you just take a little less.

I have used a 6 old western, manual angle mounted in my bucket. 2 pins and a chain on/off. and the pusher in my avatar was a 66" and worked well. Now I'm going to try a snowblower as to eliminate piles all together' . If you haven't bought a plow yet check this one out.

I have a JD 110 TLB, which is similar size to your 4720 but heavier. I have and older HD 10' fisher plow with about 3' sides welded on (to make it a pusher) and a skid steer mount the back. I also have 4" runners on the bottom of both sides. For the winter I have chains on the rear tires and leave the BH on for added weight, also have loaded rear tires. The 10' is a good size for the 110, so I would think the 8' would be fine for your 4720.

I use a 7' Vernig pusher on my Toolcat. I have a JD 4520 but never tried it on the JD. My pusher is 3' tall in the back and sides. The TC pushes it just fine, even with full box of snow. The TC is a bit heavier than the 4520 but it does OK with the pusher unless the ground is icy. I would stick with the 8' plow. Your blade is probably not near 3' tall in the back and sides. You can always use less of the 8' blade if you need.

Thanks again for all the input, I will use the 8' blade to build my pusher. I do plan on building the pusher to be like the ones you buy so I will be making it taller adding the rubber cutting edge and 3' wings and 4" skids. I will take plenty of pics of the build lol.

I also have a 4720 and converted an old 8' Western plow to go on the loader. It works great but I did have to put chains on the front tires in order to steer it on slippery surfaces when pushing heavy snow.

I installed a used John Deere Model 3680M 84" frame plow on my new 4720 last year. It is designed to fit 4700 & 4710 tractors but fabricated 5/8" plates and it works excellent! I also installed a 6" wide X 3/16" thick plate along the top edge for additional help with heavy snow. Absolutely no problems handling dirt and snow. See attached PDF spec sheet.
