Neat idea but aluminum foil is expensive! I just brush everything off with a shop cloth or a bench brush.

I use the blow gun from the air compressor. But I have a commercial model that starts at 120 psi and shuts off at 150 psi so it takes the metal pieces right off the magnets no problem. I used to have it shutting off at 180 psi but all my air tools leaked air so I had to set it lower.

Walmart's is plenty cheap enough. Still using on a roll I started using last year after SWMBO decided it was to thin for her needs. In fact most stuff that I end up with is after she decides it doesn't suit.

Air pressure works but after having to get some steel removed from my eye, I no longer use that method.

i use safety glasses and hearing protection for just about everything these days. When I am busy they get scattered all over but at the end of the day I put it all back on the wall.

Well when I am busy I leave one on the tractor and one in the shop and one if I am outside. Otherwise I spend a lot of time going back to get it. Also when visitors come. What little hearing I have left! Need to take care.

I made a couple mini squares from standard speed squares, to use in wood or metal working shops. I made one from plastic and one from aluminum and both work really well. I found myself reaching for one much more than I expected, so I made another aluminum one to keep on my bench in the barn. I use the cheapest speed squares I could find, in the $2 range. Most of the better brands have more slots for options, and those slots make them unusable for this. I attached pics of the new square with a red line indicating where I'll cut it with a hack saw. Then a pic of it cut. And finally the mini square. I clean up the fresh cut edge with a file, as well as any burrs on the other edges. This last one took me a total of 2 minutes to cut and file. By looking at it, you wouldn't think it makes much difference to have a standard or mini size, but that smaller size can be used easier in tight areas and also fits in a large pocket.

Interesting, I do both of those and never gave it much thought. Thanks for the validation.

This is one of the best inexpensive additions I have made to my shop. My shop vacuum filters stay clean now and I no longer have dust and sawdust billowing around in the shop while vacuuming. Dust Deputy Deluxe Cyclone Separator Dust Collection Kit | Oneida Air Systems
Doofy, I have pretty much done the same. I built my own buying a mini Deputy, a refuse bin, and a shop vac and welded up a light frame so I can roll it around and hook it up to various tools such as my sandblast cabinet.

Very nice job. Mine is just under the work bench and I have a 20 foot hose that reaches almost anywhere in the shop. It is on a smart switch and comes on automatically when tied in to various shop tools. Thinking about moving the vacuum outside so I don't have to listen to it.

That stuff is like herpes. It's the gift that keeps on giving...

Yeah, but at least the bolts come out the next time you want them too.
Hand cleaner, like GoJo will cut Never Sieze. Works good on stains too.
Rub it into the fabric really well and let it set a day or two before you wash it.

Yep I use a smart switches as well. Great to turn on one tool and have your vac turn on with it.

Kneeling Pads. Old knees don't like hard floors.

WD-40 cleans all that gooey adhesive that they stick labels on with.

To save sandblasting the widow in a sand blast cabinet stretch some black widow screening over the inside of the window, attach with duct tape.

Duct tape will also protect glass from sand blasting, like on a window frame or such.
That same tape does a fair job for when paint stripping also, but aluminum foil tape is the best.
Aviation uses foil tape on plexiglass when they paint strip aircraft.

Another recent discovery.
Fine auto body rubbing compound does a super job of cleaning up baked on gunk on stove tops and oven doors.

This is easy to make out of 3/4" wood scraps for deep impact sockets. Easy to carry, hinge on wide side, gate latch on other, bent around. 20201218_163841.jpg20201218_163933.jpg20201218_163853.jpg20201218_163909.jpg

Gonna have to try that one... wife has been complainin' bout the brown baked on stains on her new stainless gas range. Any brand recommendations?

Found this review... The 10 Best Rubbing Compounds to Buy 2022 - Auto Quarterly

Yep, that should work OK.
I also use it to renew yellowed headlight lenses. There it does great. (you wonder where the yellow went)
LOL, in a pinch toothpaste and elbow grease will also do the trick as it is an ultra mild abrasive.
