2002 NH TC33D - Replaced a 1950 Ford 8N
Good morning,

2 small issues have arisen that I am curious if they are concerns:

1. Console between the steering wheel and hazard light button cracked. Easy to fix with JB Weld or something similar?

2. Temp Gauge is not working, never moves upwards (plowed snow for a few hours and still nothing moved). Is this something I should fix or just watch?
- I seem to remember seeing this is widespread and of no concern, but cannot remember.

Thank you all,

John

The temp gauge should be repaired. Check the wiring to the temperature sensor, and the sensor itself.

Overheating is a good way to force another upgrade.

I'd either be repairing that temperature gauge or replace it with a standalone gauge to prevent overheating your engine.

As far as the dashboard if it’s plastic you might consider plastic welding it. You can buy a kit at Harbor freight or Amazon.

You need to confirm that the thermostat is working properly and not stuck open. Usually done with a infared thermometer or a long stemmed thermometer in the radiator cap. If it is warming up, then check the wiring between the dash and the sensor, near the thermostat.

I believe you can jump the temp sensor wire to ground and the gauge should move. Free test that you don't even need to start the tractor to try. You do need to turn the key though.

Ok all, thank you for the pointers and advice. Replaced both the thermostat and the sender unit, both had it! Shockingly, once done, the temp gauge on the dash started working again!!!

I really appreciate it!

Glad you were able to get the gauge working again.
