"Show Images" option doesn't seem to work

I have "Show Images" checked, but all the images in the threads are still links only. Isn't "Show Images" supposed to make the images visible in the threads?

No. Images that appear in the threads are links to photos which are stored somewhere on the web. When you see a link at the bottom of the thread then it's an attachment which has been uploaded to this site and is stored locally.

I guess so, if that's the way it works. Seems odd to me because other forums I go to will show the images in the threads if they are "attached", or linked using the (img) (/img) tags, as long as you are logged in.

Weird forum programming.

If someone posts an image using the img tag, it will appear inline, assuming you have the Show Images option selected in your profile. Links to images were posted with the url tag. There's no 'weird' programming. Inline images are also inconsiderate to people who connect via a modem.

Well, if you connect with a modem, or not, if you have "Show Images" unchecked they don't appear in the threads, even if they're inline using the img tags. So inline images aren't inconiderate. And since I would like to see all of the images inline, it's weird programming as far as I'm concerned. It seems that most of the posters on the board attach the images and don't use the img tags, which they could. Maybe they do it out of consideration of those with slower connections, but they don't have to.

I would just like to open the thread and see all of the images inline, attached or img tagged, that's all.

mtbr.com uses it, vBulletin Version 3.5.3 . It actually looks like the same layout as tbn, but I can't find any mention of the software used on here. With Show Images checked, both attached and inline images are visible in the threads.

Is this being given any thought at all? It would make the forum a lot more enjoyable for those with a little faster connections that choose to have all images visible in the threads.

I just noticed the wording in the options page:

"Show Images (including attached images and images in code)"

So it seems that all images are supposed to be visible when "Show Images" is checked. Something seems to not be working correctly.

Thanks, Muhammad; I was wondering about this too. It sure is better if we can see the images in the posts. Other forums have it this way, and TBN's site could use some help in that area. I did notice in one of the trailer threads that someone was able to show his photos in his post.

Yes, it would be easy IF everyone took the time to use the 'img' '/img' tags, but they don't, and I wouldn't expect them too. Plus, they shouldn't have to. If the forum software was working correctly, they don't have to.

To say that some posters aren't posting images correctly is actually false, the forum software isn't working correctly is the problem.

And to be sure, I still am hoping that this gets fixed!

I agree. I put the clickable thumbnails in from photobucket and they do take a lot longer to do. They are also quite confusing to do to begin with.

It would be nice if the photos showed up. However, people often make them big and then they take ages to download and they make reading the rest of the thread difficult.

With Mozilla Firefox I just middle click on the pictures before I start reading and they open up in a new window
