I was thinking today , what am I going to do for an engine hood ? Just checked my emails a minute ago and the company I bought the cabins off had sent some photos of a Loader hood I may be interested in......Just now finished doing a bank transfer so I did not miss out . It's even painted the same colours as my excavator , how goods that . All I need now is a bit of luck at the truck auction and a reply about the track base .

I just hope you dont underestimate the challenges of a CAN bus system or CPU controlled engine... Or that the components you buy, arent electronically controlled. ;)

No , I am well versed with CanBus wiring systems and the things I need to do to trick the ECU . I grafted the entire engine , dash , firewall , air con , drivers air bag , central locking system etc out of a 2005 Ford Falcon into an F series cab and then sat it all on a Nissan Patrol chassis . All tree cars had different systems and every electrical option runs through the ECU and it all works . This project is less daunting than my truck .

The FTX148 is $258,000 +tax , the PT400 is $580,000 +tax , this thing wont be as refined as either , maybe somewhere in the middle but still be pretty capable and will owe me less than my F Truck .
Thank you for the good wishes .

Sorry I forgot to reply , yes I have enough projects to last me two more lifetimes and will keep you posted on this one . Once I get the donor truck the top half will move quickly , the track base is still going to be hard to find and will hold me up . Still no reply from India , business must be booming as they don't even reply to emails .

Iron Horse: Great project. Please keep us informed:D

About the undercarrage, have you tried to find a used bulldozer? You could use both the engine and the UC. Just throwing it out there as a suggestion.

I do like the idea of adding a side boom. It'll give some flexability. I think TigerCat has a option on their excavator style mulchers where there is a wrist so you can rotate the head forward and mulch as if the machine had a fixed head.

Thanks for that Scooby , it needs to be hydraulic drive and the dozers are planetary finals .

Just a bit of a hitch in the plan , come off my motor bike today , broke my knee in several places and have surgery tomorrow morning . I WAS on a roll , stay tuned .........................

Well.. that is a bit of downturn... Here's hopin' that you're only just slowed up for a short while!

When I was in my early teens - I broke my kneecap. It was simply smashing!! A lovely cast from crotch to the last knuckle of my toes.. in the middle of summer - nice and ITCHY! :( I had straightened out coat hangers scattered all over the place; 'cause you just never knew when the itching would push you over the edge@#!!#@

Maybe with fall coming on - it'll get a bit cooler and won't be as bad a deal for you.

Drop a line and let us know how you're doin'.

A bit like this Ak ?

Thank's Bri , the project will be back on track in 6 weeks when the cast comes off .

I called the dozers final drives planetaries , that is not correct they consist of bull gears etc , I was still in shock .:D

The biggest setback is I wont make it to the truck auction , I could buy it online but would rather see it in person .
