That's funny. I measured mine. They are six inches as well. Your look so much heavier (same Color). I have seen some places with massive ones for very heavy equipment.
I had a tough time finding used 12 foot beams. Anything shorter does not lend itself well for equipment attachments. Usually, one attachment per rack and a bunch of wasted space on either side. Plus, (like yours) I made the top flat and the end frames not to the ceiling for a continuous shelf without barriers.
