I need to move a lot of rocks so I had the local salvage guys whip me up a rock sled or perhaps stone boat. They suggested a half of an old stove oil tank. Lots of these around from people converting to gas.

I did learn that it's better to pick really big rocks out of the boat rather than tipping it over, I did bend the boat a bit.

At least you did not rock the boat! Nice idea, Thanks for sharing.

I used to use a stone boat. They are a good way to move rocks as the rocks are easy to just roll them in.
But now have a bucket on FEL that works better.

Goes to show old ways still come in handy.

maybe load the rocks tad near the rear, less chance of sled/boat digging in.

Hey truenorth I am looking to make a similiar rocksled. Where are you hooking your chains to? Are they going to your tow bar?

The hood of a Studebaker makes a great payload sled...

goto a local junk yard and pickup a metal hood off of some car or truck. to turn it into a sled for rocks.

btw nice job with hooking it on the rear and use of backhoe with thumb for loading:thumbsup:
