Has anyone else noticed a rise in spam that is getting through the filters lately. The outdoor wood boiler thread seems to have lots of spam hitting it and I have seen a few other spam posts today. Just keep clicking the report to moderator button.

It seems that the amount of SPAM varies from time to time. There was quite a list of Spam several several weeks ago. There were some OP's that were posting in the New Member Forum and posting 12-15 posts in a row. I just reported one tonight in which the OP stated that the location was Antarctica.

Lots of spam on here today. Looks to be from the same person/thing. KEEP REPORTING IT.

And after reporting it, put a post on the thread so other folks don't waste their time reporting it again

Yep, we've been inundated today, and yes, keep reporting them, but please don't "Reply" to them.

I would report more if it didn't take so long...why is that?

When someone signs up their first post should be screened by a mod before actually being displayed.

I had started a thread in News/Feedback about all this spam. As Bird wrote, today is bad and a week or so back we had a bad batch posted.
I doubt the mods would have time to review each first post. I suggested using one of those bots screens in which one must type in a code (random characters in different fonts) when joining or logging in.

I remember reading that.

I do suppose it would pile up pretty quickly. All I know is that this BS has got to stop!! :)

Maybe a set up where first posts can be deleted after a certain number of members over a cetain post count click a delete thread button but only on threads by new users.

There are companies that pay Indians to solve captchas. Almost free labor :-(

This idea has merit....the foundation would be that if several members who had achieved a certain level of veracity reported a new member post, then it would be removed for review by a moderator....
