Rear Blade Rear Blade keeps breaking

I have a John Deere #47 7' rear blade for about 10 years now with no problems but from what you have shown in the pics I would go for the Landpride 3584. That is definately a better designed blade than the others shown.

Everybody needs to remember when purchasing new implements, MOST of the time , you get what you pay for. If you have a certain size tractor, you really need to have the implement that matches the strength of that tractor. Strength equals weight, traction, and horse power. Yes you can baby a lighter duty implement, and maybe get by with it, buy it is easier and safer to use the correct sized implement for the machine that it is being used on.

Just my opinion and based on what I have learned over the years. ;)

Question: Why does my rear blade keep breaking off the swivel?

Steve, I can't say for sure, but that weld sure looks wimpy for that swivel. I'm sure another medium duty or heavy duty blade would work, but I'd give your current swivel one more try at welding before I'd give it up. When you weld it or at the shop where you take it, be sure to ask them to weld a bead on both sides of the plate and try to get good penetration for both welds. I think there is a likelyhood that your weld is failing when it should not due to it being the wrong kind of rod used or welding techique that is less than optimum.
