Thanks everyone who shared info about the QH. I have decided to go ahead and get one and give it a shot. Will have to pay attention to each attachment I purchase to make sure it will work or work with a little modification. Have not decided on what brand to go with yet, but I do what one that offers the most adjustment on the top hook. Looking at the least expensive Harbor Freight to the most expensive - they are all looking pretty close to the same.

Looks like it will be happy shopping times coming up.

I have the HF quick hitch. It is plenty strong for my B2320. I did replace the top hook with one from Amazon for about $26-27. If I recall, I did modify the lower connection to the lift arms, I think I drilled them out (just a little) so I could use pins that fit the tractor arms better. I had to modify my EA pine straw rake (knew that when I ordered it, but did expect that at least the lower pins would have been to spec, nope, had to move them.) Also had to modify my MacKissic wood chipper, since what they considered cat 1 was really cat0/cat1. All good now, everything hooks up with no hassles. Kubota snowblower, EA Landscape rake, LP box blade, Titan trailer hitch receiver (had to search for the QH model) all work with no mods. Expecting a ballast box in a few days that hopefully is going to fit with no mods (pics showed it on a QH, so it should be the same.)
With a 20% HF coupon and the replacement hook just over $100. The savings over most of the other brands bought a lot of fuel!

I have the HF QH on my short list. Showing it lists for $109.99 in my area. Have a 25% off coupon that I could use which brings it down to $82.49.

As far as the top hook, which one did you get from Amazon? Is it a weld on or bold on one?
Thanks

The harbor freight QH's use a 2 bolt top hook. The one I bought it below from Amazon.

"SMA 873-HF141137 Top Hook for Cat 1 Quick Hitch"

I suspect the HF in the model number might have something to do with harbor freight LOL

Google the “harbor freight top link adaptor”. It works well for those off the wall implements that don’t like the hook.

I have 6 years now on mine from Hf. Welded a receiver hitch tube (also from HF) to be able to use my trailer, winch on a receiver hitch mount, and even my vise on a mount plate on it.

Best 75 bucks I’ve spent.

Btw. As far as using with a Post hole digger, Xfaxman did a good write up long ago converting a PHD to be Quick Hitch compatible.

I have always wanted to do that but I’d rather tug, beat, and cuss mine into connecting and disconnecting on the 3 point.
It warms the soul...

I have a QH. Sold off the implements that did not fit on Craigslist and purchased ones that would. Someone else’s problem or joy if they don’t use a QH. Would never be without and the QH is a great all round tool to have on the tractor for pulling, lifting, etc. when I had Garbage service I used the top link to take out the trash/recycle containers.

For what it's worth, I'd rather have extendable lower lift arms and pin style stabilizers (which my tractor does not) than a quick hitch. That would make implement hookup as easy as a quick hitch. And even with the quick hitch....I still have to readjust the height of the top hook for my different implements so any time savings from the quick hitch is now lost.

And when there is nothing in it like when I'm mowing it rattles enough to drive you crazy.

And with the rear snow blower on in the winter.....it is not horrible, but you can definitely tell it takes enough weight off the steer tires that you can feel the difference on ice. Because it sets your implement further back a couple inches.

I got the hook cglaser104 referenced. I use 1/2" hitch pins instead of bolts. I only have to adjust the height for the Pine straw rake. I think every thing else is set for the same position.
Shortly after I bought the hook, I saw one for less somewhere else. Can't remember where, but it may have been Agrisupply. A quick search should help find the best deal

Refer to the post on page 1 with the standardized dimensions for QH compatible implements and go from there. I got my hitch given to me by a family member who had changed tractors and the new one had telescoping links so he didn't want it. My rototiller advertised being QH compatible and already had the 1 1/4" top pin so adjusted the hook to match. eventually i found that tech spec and realized that the pins are supposed to be 15" apart vertically, and i know many will disagree and there are pin kits to adjust the hook height, but in my mind i believe it to be best if you don't have to change the hook height. I still have a bunch to go through, but my plan is to set up or if necessary, modify all of my attachments to suit one hook height. in the case of the tiller, whoever set it up prior to me had the adjustable ears turned upside down so that the pin height was further apart. i suspect that it might have matched the cat 3 vertical standard. my only concern is that many of my attachments were bought and set up for my old tractor, which had shorter 3 point arms than this one, and then you add on more setback for the quick hitch, and I could run into a driveshaft length issue.

Thanks for the input. I printed out Dale's (#DEMEISEN) dimension sheet earlier - very helpful. Will be using that to confirm whichever QH I decide to go with and the implements.

If you buy older implements (and even some new), few will fit that dimension chart--Even within the same Category. If your can weld or at least have a drill, it's not that hard to bring an older attachment within the Category range of your QH. I prefer to mod my used implements to fit my hitch rather than the other way around. It makes changing implements simple and fast. And the mod only has to happen once instead of moving the hook each time for several implements. But, it's your time. Use it how you wish. :tractor:

If you have not purchased yet, and do not want to look at all new implement purchases, look into Pat’s QH. It avoids the top link issues completely as there is no top link involved (yes you must get off and connect the top link manually. If it is a PTO driven implement getting off is already required). Also standard spacing of lift pins is a non-issue as the lower arms can still move independent of one another (no frame work connecting them)
Yes they are a compromise on the QH benefits, but for many of us with older very functional implements (often much better build than entry level implements at often lower price points) the compromise is acceptable.
Now if money is no consideration, buy all new implements in a quality brand and a QH in the same brand and life will be grand. Unfortunately few of us fall into that 1st qualifier!
Do a youtube search for Pat’s QH and you should fund more than you want.

FYI -With a hydraulic top link and adjustable lift arms it's not hard at all to swap out implements.

I really like my Quick Hitch. I did add a Hydraulic Top link and that definitely helps me with hooking up.

   / Quick Hitch Questions #38
With the telescoping arms and pin attach stabilizers on my kioti SE, combined with a hydraulic top link, I can’t see any reason for a quick hitch - especially since 90% of my work is with pto drive equipment (which is a much bigger pain than any simple 3pt hookup AND always requires me to get off the machine anyway). Even less justification for Pat’s since they would just be nearly redundant to telescoping arms and add length and cost.

One of the first things I bought was a QH. Got a really good deal on a WOODS. Fits every implement I have. Box Blade, Grader Blade, Straight Blade, Boom Pole and Finish Mower. Works great.
