A business aquaintence and I were talking a couple years back about generators. He lives in upstate NY. He said that a storm took out his power once and his basement flooded cause his electric sump pump had no power which pissed him off. He also noticed that while the power fails often, the gas never seems to go out.
His solution was to buy a natural gas generator with automatic start and automatic transfer. Costco had an 8kw unit for I think it was 1500 or so. He says that he has had power outages of hours to days that the generator handled without a hitch.
So, for those of you who are on natural gas and are experiencing power failures, is your gas still on? If so, you might consider a natural gas generator. The fully automatic ones are a dream if you can afford them. The rest of us can get by with a natural gas venturi for our gasoline gensets /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
