Kubota BX2200, '55 Farmall Cub, '57 Ford 640
JD 425, 60" deck, 33 hrs, 1 yr warr. = $7100
JD 425, 54" deck, 60 hrs, 1 yr warr. = $6700
Cub 3208, 60" deck, 83hrs, 2 yr warr. = $7100
Kubota 2460g 54" deck, new, 2 yr warr. = $7500
Kubota 2160 54" deck, new, 2 yr warr. = $7700
Looked at the Ingersoll prices and they where higher. Plus the fact that the deck are not quick attach rules them out for me. I have a craftman right now (for where I live now) and I swear at it every spring fighting with the deck.

I have never had a big problem with my Ingersolls. The 444 has a 48" deck, and it takes about 5 min to remove, and install it. The 224, with a 44" deck takes a few min longer becouse its lower then the 444, so a little less room.

I would go look at a Kubota BX or the Power Trac. A tad larger, maybe a couple dollars more, but you might be much happier in the long run. IMHO it's better to shop the alternatives now, then resell and trade a bunch of times.

Not sure what your needs are, but I got a price of $9,950 on a Kubota BX2200 with a 60" mower. That's the price without haggling. The BX1800 should be cheaper. There you would have 4WD, and a little larger tractor. If you are looking at used, I'm sure you could find a used BX model for a little more than what you priced here. Also Cub Cadet has a subcompact now too. They are priced under $10,000 also, and they come with the option of a gas engine. Good Luck, and Have Fun!!!! Kent

I have been quoted $9200 for a BX1800 w/54" deck delivered to my door. Seems to be a good price. I did go look at them, like almost everyone has said MUCH MORE TRACTOR for a little more money.
Comments on the price??!!

Sounds pretty good to me. Just remember to try to haggle a bit on price. You may be surpised. You've got to remember this tractor is a bit bigger, and diesel engines are more durable than gas. Also you can get better attachments in the future for this size tractor. I wish someone had told me about compacts 15 years ago. I spent a small fortune on Garden Tractors. Kent

g42guy,

I agree with Steelfan. That appears to be a decent price. Shop around if you can. A good dealer can make all the difference. I'd be more concerned with the dealer than a couple hundred bucks.

It appears that you've broaden your price range a bit. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the BX-1800. There is quite a bit of tractor for the buck there. You can't really compare it to a Garden Tractor. They're two different animals altogether.

I'm envious of your position, I'll have to wait a bit longer for my purchase. Let us know what you decide.

I sent in the email quote request to Carvers yesterday, But I don't think they will be any cheaper by the time you include shipping to MN. The price of 9200 is a haggled price (down from 9350) I tryed to get him down to 9100 but would'nt budge. Then I went across the border to WI to a dealer that will actually be closer once we move to the new property (16 miles). We went back and forth a little and came up with 9250. But with the lower state sales tax in WI, I come out about 40 bucks cheaper. Plus I just like the dealer better anyway.
