Plugging exhaust while trailering

/ Plugging exhaust while trailering #21
Back when I worked for a JD dealer anytime I was assigned truck driving duties I plugged the exhaust of every tractor with a turbo after it was chained down. This included the ones that I hauled back to Texas from Waterloo,Ia. Rain flappers and curved pipes were also plugged or taped. The tractors in Waterloo came with a red plastic plug and driver installed plug or wasn't permitted by JD guards to drive off JD's parking lot.

One of these on order. Helix Racing My exhaust ID is 1.65" and the plug accommodates up to 1.95". I was surprised how close the exhaust comes to the plastic hood.

I never thought they'd spin much, or fast enough to cause problems trailering. Especially if it was only being moved a few miles, I'd think they'd have enough oil left in there to keep it lubed.
