I bought a Thermal Dyn. CutSkill mod c35 plasma cutter. It has its own air source. Well my problem is that the tips don't last very long. I'm trying to figure out ifs my tech. or the machine , for example i can cut 8 inch of 1/4in mild steel and than the copper tip is cratered . Hole starts out at .040 and ends up the size of a match head whats the deal. thanks for all advice.:mad:

I own a firepower 35 and it had the same problem. The unit had two issues, the ground strap was causing the tip to burn up so I replaced the ground wire and that helped with my tip issue. Oh, I had another problem; the power relay was worn and caused a loss of power at the tip, after replacing the relay the unit works like new. Back to cutting 1/8in :)

You must have very dry air. That little filter may not be up to doing its job. Water/oil will cause those tips to wear prematurely.

Maybe try another air source if that is possible.

I have had similar problems with plasma cutters - then I found that I had the air pressure way way too high - check the regulator?
