Had he not raised his legs who knows if it would have been called.

That's probably true. I don't know his intent was to tangle up the runner, or to protect his own legs from being stepped on. You really wouldn't want your Achilles tendon laid out for stepping on by a runner. It's a legal call but seldom used.

Hopefully the Red Sox will focus on throwing to third base accurately. Geez.

Yea, Salty should not have thrown to third and screwed up like he did in game 2. I love the Sox but Middlebrooks clearly raised his feet needlessly and was looking to tangle up the runner.

Lousy but legit call.

We only let them win to win the Series at home. ;)
Go Sox!

I heard them say that it was obstruction by his body not his legs. Go Sox!! this series is draining me, love to see them win it at Fenway!

Both are great teams......hope it goes seven games and won in the 15th inning 10 to 9!!

Legit call.
The blown umpire calls were two clearly outside pitches called strikes on Boston with a 2-1 count and runners on bases (or loaded), so now instead of 3-1 counts, its 2-2, which becames 3-2 instead of a walk (and run) which became a strike out.
"Hey, ref, how much the paying you?!" :confused2::laughing: (Yeah, yeah , I know both sides see things the way they want to, but it's funny how the little insignifcant blown calls can change they game when everbody focuses on the big plays. Same w/ football).

Well, we are now tied 2-2. It is now a best 2 of 3 series with two games in Boston. Cards must win with Wainwright and Wacha or I am afraid it will be over. Tonight is HUGE for the Cards.

GO CARDS!

Yea, I wouldn't want to be Wong this morning.

Or Boston reliever Breslow. I thought it was Breslow? (not Salty) who threw the ball 5' above the third baseman's head in Game Two. He didn't show any improvement last night. I guess he pitched well against the Tigers, maybe it's nerves.

Sitting here watching game 5 wondering if the Card's bats are ever gonna wake up. Bottom 8th and Cards have only scored one run tonight and 2 last night - and one of those was unearned.

Lester was just pulled. He pitched a great game.

Let's hope Uehara keeps it up.

Well, none of the pitchers are going to look as good if they get an Ump that calls a tight strike zone in the next game.

Sheesh. Looks like we need Bob Gibson back if we are going to win a game. Remember 1967? Gibson won 3 games. I was a kid and I have the baseball cards for each starter for the Cards and Red Sox in that World Series.

Glad we're going back to Fenway in pretty good shape for game 6, maybe 7. When my kids were young we would go to Fenway for about 12 games every summer--- lot of good memories we still talk about. Good thing we did it then, I don't have the energy for downtown Boston anymore, and probably couldn't afford it either.

Agreed! It's painful to watch the offense struggling like this. Our pitchers have done well, but you just aren't going to win much when you only score 1 or 2 runs per game.

Anyone want to make bets on whether the Cards will pitch to Ortiz in the last two games? How can you pitch to him and take a chance?
