Ok, I have my 1986 vintage Kubota B5200DT 4wd w/ turf tires, MMM, and front end loader. It is gear drive, so the wife is not real pleased that she has a tough time operating it, as she wants to be able to plow snow or mow if she wants to. So, I'm kicking around the idea of selling or trading the B5200 for a new or newer B series with a hydrostatic tranny. What is one of the most economical 4wd B series with Hydro that is available with similar attachments?

A B7100HST or B7200HST would probably be among the least expensive to acquire.

Both are a little bigger, heavier, and more powerful than the B5200.

You may consider some of the BX's. I believe they don't have clutch pedals, but not totally sure. My wife has always had a problem working/reaching the clutch pedal. My 2620 still has the clutch pedal even though it is a HST, you still use the clutch for the PTO. I believe you don't on the BX's.?

Might want to consider a little newer model with power steering for the wife.Recall those posts about guys adding power steering to B7100's.

I second this. I really like the power steering and it is
great for my wife as well.

From what I've been reading, this might be a blessing in disguise.

Yes, a model with power steering would more more wife friendly than the models that I recommended, but the OP asked for "most economical", and the models that I recommended can be had with hydrostatic for a lot less than a BX, or a more modern B.

The BX seems logical, but I saw one in action at the dealer, and a customer was getting a mini brush hog on his BX and when he engaged the PTO (Electric I believe) there was a huge bang of things slammed on all at once, that it could't be good for it.....I prefer the clutch to ease the PTO on, even though I have no plans for rear pto attachments.
Power steering is a must though........

You might look for a used B7610.
I've hydro, 4Wd, power steering and the price was pretty reasonable. I paid 11.5 for everything in my sig EXCEPT the BH.

The BX tractors have a hydraulic PTO clutch. If you match correct RPM's to intelligent engagement, it is as smooth as silk. Don't know what the heck was going on at your dealer.
