I don't think anyone mentioned this but I think you should consider taking a course at a local school. Safety is an important issue in welding and that is usually stressed in a class. You would also get to look at different kind of welders and hands on instruction from someone who knows how to weld.

The "just start welding" approach can be a very frustrating way to learn how to weld.

Yeah, but with the instruction thing, you miss out on those Ah-Ha moments you get every few years when you go it alone, like "So that is that puddle thing they are always talking about":laughing:

+1 on taking a course at the local CC. You also gain access to their equipment so you will know what to buy yourself next mothers day, wifes birthday etc.:thumbsup:
