On 11 December they started setting trusses. They finished sheeting the roof on the 17th.

While setting the trusses over the great room area they dropped a truss. Chain came unhooked. End of the truss landed 6 inches to the side of one worker. Dodged a bullet there. Would have seriously hurt him. Crew boss said that's the first one they've ever dropped. I was standing about 20ft to the side. Scared the crap outta me. They took their afternoon break in the warm shop to regroup.

These guys are like monkeys doing this work. Standing on the wall sills like it's nothing. A young man's game for sure.

The Sky Trac really earns it's money doing this.

They spent the next ten days shingling, installing windows/doors and wrapping the structure.

The end of December, after working in miserable weather to get the house closed in, they pulled off to an indoor project that was coming up against it's deadline.

The first ten days of January were exceptionally warm...?nbsp; I started wiring and a couple days worked in a light shirt. They were working inside a building finishing sheetrock. I really appreciated them sticking with my project. I also hated it for them that the weather simply worked against them. Brad is too nice a guy to put off the other customer so he could do outside work on mine while the weather was nice. Typical in the life of a construction worker.

So, on nicer days I do electrical. On crappy days, like today, I stay in the warm shop. They are coming back next week. Our temps are forcast to be in the high twenties daytime, low teens at night.

Visited with one of the crew yesterday. He is still confident they'll have us moved in by 1st of April. We've got our place sold with a possession date of 01 April.

That's really good progress. Nothing like that feeling of being dry indoors when it's storming outdoors!!!

Thanks Eddie. Weather has been rough.

HVAC guy is coming any day now. I'm holding off on some of the electrical to not be in his way.

For insulation we're gonna spray foam the walls. Also the backer boards above the wall sills at the eaves. The two interior walls of the garage will get sprayed too. The great room has a vaulted ceiling. The two end wall triangles above the ceiling height will get sprayed. Gotta have 50F degree weather to do that. Probably ain't gonna happen for 3 weeks to a month. Waiting on things like that will be what puts us up against the calendar.

Great thread and great home! As many have said, Thank you for sharing!
One questions: As your goal is low/no maintenance, an reason that you did not go with a metal roof like you did on the shop? thanks!

Thank you for the compliment.

I am letting Terry (wife) make the decisions on the house. She wanted shingles. We got shingles. Wait til you see her siding selection. :)

The front porch is nice. Lots of room to set and enjoy the view. The back yard view looks very nice as well.

We are spoiled with a good view where we are now.

I was in favor of building this house in the timber. Terry was okay with that until I mentioned the racoons pooping on the porch. She chose this site. :)

Oh to have had a sky trac when i built. Even a tractor with forks would have been great. I humped every piece of wood up from the ground by hand.

Looking nice, love the drone shots, gotta get me one..

Thanks.

He bills $100 a day for the Sky Trac. It's the cheapest and most productive laborer on the job. Saves many hundreds of dollars in manpower labor. And it never complains, don't take breaks and will hold that load all day.

With that 20ft jib it has awesome reach.

Wow, well worth $100 a day. Love the aerial shots.

Thank you.

Gonna be hard to fly the Drone inside the house but I'll do my best!!!! ;)

My employer bought a drone and tried it out in the shop. Spent the money to have the drone fixed, and then did the same thing AGAIN!!! I haven't heard if they got it fixed "yet"...
Something about needing a gps signal to return home or something like that... Apparently not line of sight.

My drone can be set to gps fly or manual fly. If you try to fly it inside while on gps setting will end in disaster. :)
