Maybe DOGE can "fix" the EPA.
The EPA is solely to blame for all the problematic emissions required diesel engines in tractors as well as big trucks. Before I retired from the Western Star dealership where I worked, a full 70 percent of major work was related to emissions issues. Being 'book smart' isn't being practical smart as evidenced by the wonky, spill more compliant fuel cans of today.

You get what you pay for I guess.

Not about to pay 60 bucks for a battery operated small fuel pump when I can buy the Harbor Freight battery operated pump fop 10 bucks. I agree they fail after a while but I can buy 6 of them for the price of the one on Amascon. What I did was I switched from D cell batteries to D size Li-Ion batteries and I keep 2 charged up all the time so when one set gets weak, I drop in a fresh set.

None of the new EPA approved cans are worth a darn far as I'm concerned.

Whomever came up with that design should be fired.
I bit the bullet and bought one of the $60 pumps. Like you, I wasn't happy with the D cell batteries so I used this adapter:

It lets me use my supply of Milwaukee M12 batteries which are always on charge.

I clamped it to the pump with a couple of U bolts:

That way, the pump is just another cordless tool.

Idiots trying to design an idiot-proof product to conform with decrees from the EPA and OSHA.
The last good thing they did was forbid transporting gas in glass jugs.

I'm convinced the well intended folks who designed these "safety" containers never actually used one.
I think that’s it. Or, they tested it only on one specific equipment type, and failed to recognize all the different places and situations in which we need these things to work.

Somewhere I have a very old glass gasoline jug… never could find a spout as I guess it rusted away 100 years ago.

Perfect companion piece for my 120 year old car.

I have a photo of someone using one of those!

Same, cut them off!

The only good fuel can that I’ve found, out of these newer designs, is No Spill brand. Just ask Jill! The rest of the new style cans have spouts that just don’t work for me.

As to speed, they’re almost on par with my late-1990’s old school spout cans having the always-too-tiny breather holes, but not as fast as 1970’s cans.

I had watch it a second time to see the gas can....

Whoever hired that model/actress, certainly knew his audience. No way on earth I'd have watched 66 seconds of John Doe showing me how the spout on a gas can works, but I've seen Jill do the same, more than once!

I own 7 no spills, other then they empty slowly, they are flawless, no spills, even when they are doing back flips in the trunk of the car.

I've been considering buying 2 of these SST Jerry cans.
Amazon has a 30-day no questions return policy, so if they aren't as described, back they go.

I like stainless construction and the problems it eliminates.

Ya, I missed out. Hopefully they return, I'm watching.
Speaking of problems it eliminates; I have 2 old galvanized gas cans. I never used them since plastic hit the scene.
Well, last year I had to drain my MF 135 gas tank before removal so I drained in onto a galvanized can.
Fast forward, I then used that gas in my ZTR Honda engine. After using ½ a tank the engine stoped like it was out of gas.
Inspection of the fuel filter showed it was full of a coarse white powder.
the inside of the can.
BTW, I sat those galvanized gas cans outside a field gate. Someone "borrowed them". 😈

Delaminated zinc? What do you think that does to valves and seats at combustion temperature? Hopefully none of it was fine enough to pass thru the filter.

I ordered a set of new nozzles and vent caps from Amazon. When you drill the hole for the vent do you just flush the plastic bits from drilling out with a little fuel? Any tricks so you don’t end up with plastic shards inside the fuel can when drilling?

You could pressurize the can with the blower end of a shop vac, so all plastic chips blow outward while drilling.

I would NOT put the suction end of a shop vac on a used gas can, unless it were extremely well-washed first. Seems like a recipe for exploding shop vacs.

When installing these vents in jugs, I use a heated metal rod, like the chuck end of an old drill bit, to melt through the plastic rather than drill it. No chips to worry about. Melting also leaves a thicker reinforcing ring around the hole.

Do NOT attempt this in a jug that has been used with a flammable liquid!!

I use 2 part epoxy when installing my plugs. Eliminates all leaks and movement of vent plugs
