Four pin trailer connectors might work also with a bit of finagling.

But with those things you need to splice the wire...makes for a bad looking job.

One more stupid question: I can get rolls of any wire I want, but what I'd really like is 2 10ga wires put together in a weatherproof plastic sleeve. I can make my own in split loom, but I really like the toughness of a pre-made 2 wire in a sealed sleeve.

Anyone know who sells wire already set up this way on line for reasonable cost?

Yep! That is the downside of those. However, if you have a lathe, you can make splices with the exact inside diameter to match the bare wire and with the exact outside diameter to match the insulated part. A little solder, a little heat shrink and you have a butt splice that is much neater than the commercial ones.

These are waterproof - some styles are. You can connect the panel style mounted in the bed and then just plug in when needed.

Are the actual pins on the #10 wired connectors any heavier than those on the ones with #14 wire? I've never had them stand up to more than a few amps, plus they seem to corrode pretty quick when exposed to the elements. They seem to be designed to make a connection that stays made, rather than unplugged on a regular basis and left open....

Get fine strand tin coated copper wire and M/F weather proof connectors at a marine supply store like West Marine.

good luck with these places,I used them when I rewired my motorcycle for adventure touring. I strongly suggest the use of molex connectors
