My First Motorcycle

My first bike was a 125 Benelli just like the one in this pic from the net. I inherited mine from my brother after he left it in storage for 3 years. He bought it from Montgomery Ward to use at college. I used it for a year or two- My girlfriend and I rode it to our wedding on it! Some years later I got a '81 Suzuki GN400 (kickstart) for commuting to work. I put it away for 19 years then got it going again. My last bike was a '87 Suzuki Savage LS650. A lot of fun- but arthritis took over and I couldn't ride anymore. View attachment 358077 125 Benelli View attachment 358078Suzuki GN400 View attachment 358079 LS650

1965 Honda 750Four. Sold it years ago. No pics either.

Currently own and riding a 1997 Honda Shadow 1100 ACE. All black. Carbs re-jetted, Vance & Hines Straight Shots (2" drag pipes), Corbin 2-up touring saddle, Memphis Fats windshield. :)
Sorry, but no pics of it now either. My photo hosting site shut down and I lost them all.

I've owned many motocycles over the years, but this 1998 GL1500 SE was my favorite, as I did the most traveling with it around the country.

That is a nice bike Pine Strip...
I've owned 10 bikes in my life and one of the best touring bikes I ever had was an old 1984 1200 Goldwing...
That thing was so smooth it would put you to sleep...

My first bile was a 70 honda, 1969, "Mini-Trail". That was in 1994. After that I bought a Honda 1981 XL185, put miles and miles on it. I still have it, with 3 more for parts. All somewhere behind a pile of stuff in the pole barn. Haveńt started it in years. Might be a good project for when the kids will get older. So its far from beign a collecrion bike, but should be kinda rare thse days. That bike was MY ride from when I got it at 13 untill I got my drivers liscence. I rode it 10 months a year, even in the snow ! These were the days with nothin to worry about, an old bike 5$ in my pockets, lots of "biker" friends, and I use to know all the trails in te county so we could runaway from the cops :p.

That was my life EXACTLY!! Me and my buddy Kenny. Kenny?, is that you?

1973 Yamaha RD60...rode it almost exclusively in the dirt! Next bike was a '76 TY175 trials bike. I thought I was Sammy Miller. Then came a '78 YZ400. I SMOKED Bob Hannah on that bike ( every night in my dreams  )

Is the blue one a CBR 90 ? My first real bike was very close to it. Same tank and frame layout. Fixed foot pegs that broke every time you dropped it.
At the time I was riding with buddies who parents had a lot of money. For one year they rode new version of Honda. Then the next upgraded to MX Yamaha 100 and 125s. I still remember trying to keep up with them on my old Honda 90 with a few inches of travel front and rear.
I loved that bike and learned to patch up a lot of stuff by having it.

It's actually a 1965 Honda C200. Some call them the "Baby Dream". It's a 90cc push rod motor with a manual clutch. Like me you have some great memories of these little gems. Here's a video of my restoration.

Kernopelli, I had a 76 YZ250 when I was a junior in high school, bought it new and that was one of the happiest days of my then 17 year old life. Now let's see if anyone here remembers who Preston Petty was.

Hehe.... No kenny here, too bad we haveńt met on the net 16 years ago. !!! Oregon would have been a nice trip from eastern Canada thru the back roads , just for the heck of it!!! That 10 000 miles back and forth trip would have prob killed the engine on my honda.... I could have cone back home hitch hicking..... Down on the trans-canada highway.....

We always referred to the Honda Dream as a nightmare. :) Just kidding, that's a very nice job you've done there.

My first bike was a Honda 72 SL 125. I rode the wheels off of that thing and apparently it wasn't as tough as me. So many problems, I switched to Yamaha. Bought a 76 RD 400. Man did I have fun outrunning all the Honda XL 350's in town that thought they were bad to the bone. :)

Anyhow, you meet the nicest people on a Yamaha (was their slogan). Over the years I had many. Even the first R1 that came to Austin back in 98.

I had 3 kids late in life so I don't have many toys anymore. I'm down to an XT 600 that hasn't been on the roads since '07. I do ride it occasionally around the property.

My best friends felt sorry for me recently and asked if I knew which side the clutch lever was on. Anyway one of them said to meet him at his mom's garage in a half an hour. He brought an extra bike over there for me to ride. I was in Heaven on earth.

We went on a spirited ride for about 20 miles on country roads. Then he made me trade off begrudgingly and forced me to ride this.

We rode back to town and another buddy forced me to go ride his new bike. He really had to twist my arm.

All in all, not too shabby of a day.

Hey Mace, do you still wish you had that Norton? Have you seen the new one's?

Kyle_in_Tex, some friends you have, I mean come on! Can I come over? Please?

Yes, I have some great friends. A little rough around the edges, but great through and through.

It took about a week for my feet to come back to earth after getting to ride all 3.

The vmax is a tire scorcher. Freaking crazy torque monster. The Ducati Diavel has a really hot V twin. It actually lopes like a hot cammed 454, but only 2 cylinders. Kind of hard to explain.
