Must Tractor ROPS Be So High?

It is probably that high so if in a rollover, the head will be in a protected area below a line from the roll bar to the front of the hood.

That's the reason. I found that the pins could be removed, and the top half stored safely out of my doorway's way! Though mine folds, it absolutely would not have fit with the snowblower chute...

Who wears a seat belt? ROPS is meaningless unless you wear one.
I wear mine except when running up and down the road... most of the time.

I've never had mine on any of my tractors or when I had the RT40 ditch witch also my old 755 deere had the rops cut at about 6 inches tall.

I'd like to have hydraulic cylinders to operate the hinge pivots when mowing around trees. Otherwise, bolted fully up most of the time.

I'm going to say..... Yes.... It is likely designed to be tall enough to keep the tractor from going more than 90 degrees most of the time in case of a roll over on its side...

My 5 cents of opinion...
Nailed it.

I use seat belt when I feel there is a danger. Sometimes, it's a "shi*" moment, I need a seatbelt and fasten.
