After the war there was a great demand for small tractors to replace a horse on small farms in Norway. Here are some versions that were popular on small farms where a conventional tractor was too big or too steep to be used.

I came across the picture below while searching through old 35mm slides to show at my parents' 60th wedding anniversary. This was taken in Weisbaden, Germany around 1968 or so. I'm the cute little guy in the trailer along with my older brother. The older fella in the trailer was a German man we called "Uncle Ernst". The house we lived in (shown below) housed 3 families in the main section along with Ernst, his wife and his sister in a little add-on area on the left side of the house. The entire property was owned by a hotel and Ernst and the ladies worked the gardens and the orchards that supplied the hotel restaurant. You can see the apples on the trees as we head into the orchard to "help" Uncle Ernst.

I don't know what kind of tractor it is, but I'm sure it dated back to right after the war, if not before.

These "specials" are very interesting. Though times were tight, IT is interesting how the two wheeled tractors grew to four wheels under the influence of the owner's needs.

That front logging winch is a real beauty!

The Agria Grombasen looks very nicely done!

Thanks for sharing the photos. If you see any more, I'm always interested!

Very cool stuff! Some of those are bigger than a compact tractor!

Is not quite sure which brand of two-wheeled tractor, but it has self-loading front wagon

Here in Slovakia, when I search for "malotraktor" in the classifieds (small tractor -- which encompasses both 2 and 4 wheel tractors), about half of the advertisements are homemade-- either making a two wheel Vari or Agzat (or other) walk behind into four wheels, or else completely homemade two or four wheel tractors using various combinations of automotive engines, automotive transmissions, and sometimes old tractor transmissions.

I looked at one last year, that was made by hooking a Czechoslovak diesel walk behind tractor (motorobot it was called-- much larger than the vari system) (or at least the engine from it) to an ancient transmission and rear wheels from a four wheel tractor. The guy had to pour a bit of oil into the cylinder to get enough compression to start it, and while it came with a spare, apparently better working motor, I decided I'd pass on it! :)

There is non written rule here. No pictures. It didn't happen.:laughing: By the way my mother was born in Sirk Zeleznik. I still have cousins in Holic. I understand but can't write Slovakian.
