Sounds like the whole thing is a boat anchor. I stand by my previous assessment on the last rig you were looking at. Walk away....far away. :)
Just the motor. Rest of the truck is pretty good.
The motors are ruined by the cooled RGR and DPF systems

Still, you buy the truck you may not be able to drive it so you've got an expensive lawn decoration.

Do you know a shop that can write EGR and DPF out of the software ? Because thats what seems to make your purchase viable or not...

Welding a dummy pipe to mount in the exhaust tract on the 364 days a year your truck is not at an annual EPA roadworthiness and emissions test is manageable, i bought an aftermarket DPF for my Volvo too, though the previous owner had it erased from the software so it clogs up way too easy. But erasing it from the software so it wont go in limp-home mode when EGR or DPF are bypassed, is the issue that decides the viability of your plan.

I’d probably do that upon purchase, before it fails.
So it won’t (probably) become an expensive lawn (or in my case field) decoration.

I found out this particular truck, for whatever bizzarre reason, doesn’t have exhaust brakes. I think I will keep on lookin…..
