Are Mahindra loaders still outsourced? If so who makes them now? Seems like when I bought my 6000 the dealer said you might get a KMW loader and you might get a Great Bend.

I bought a new Mahindra about 2 months ago, and it has a KMW loader. I've got about 20 hours on it now.

In general, I am very happy with the loader. With that said, my tractor had only about 5 hours on it before I started welding on the loader bucket.

The pistons and loader arms are great. They are very well matched to the tractor.

But, I sure thought the bucket was a little wimpy. The first thing I did was get some angle, and weld it over the top bucket lip -- it deformed when I dumped the first bucket full of loose topsoil that had some big roots in it. I was surprised at how easy it was to bend it back into shape.

Right now, I have a bunch of flat stock leaning against the barn wall, next to my welder. I bought the steel a few nights ago to weld to the sides and bottom of the bucket before I go out bend up the bucket again. Basically, the thickness of the top lip, the entire bottom behind the cutting lip, and the front sides will all be doubled in thickness. This would be a minimal cost during manufacture. I'm not sure why KMW, or Mahindra, doesn't already do this.

Other than that, I am thrilled with the performance of the Mahindra and the loader. I had never before used a joystick loader -- it took about fifteen minutes to learn how to overload the bucket and pop stumps that shouldn't have been popped!

Good luck,

Knute

When I had the dealer put an ML260 loader on my 6000 2WD they were talking KMW but didn't seem quite positive about that. Turned out to be made by Buhler. I have also seen some 6000's with a black loader named TAS, TAZ, PAZ or something like that

I believe if you bought an "early" 6000 ("00" series in general) you may have gotten a Great Bend (which was bought out by Bush Hog). I believe KMW started to supply all the loaders in '02 and later. I've had good luck with my KMW but you have to regularly check the frame mount bolts for tightness. If you are planning on getting a Mahindra BH (by Bradco), the frame mounts for the Mahindra bolt up to the frame mounts for the FEL. BobG in VA

I've got a KMW M112e that I'm real happy with. I use it to load sand in my truck-mounted spreader in the winter and pull/load rocks in summer. Like knute_m, my top rail bent a little, but it digs and pulls rocks so big it brings the rear end off the ground. I haven't found anything it won't lift, yet. I was using a 55 gal barrel loaded with sand for a counter-weight, but had to take it off for the scraper. Here a couple of pictures of the rock pile so far and a rock it carried. Just after I took that picture, I got back on the tractor and it had lifted the rear end enough I couldn't get traction. Had to go to 4wd.

I have a 2615 with a ML106 loader made by KMW. My bucket will come up all by its self after running the tractor for 15 to 20 minutes. The warranty for the loader is only 18 months and mine is 24 months old. I have wriitten KMW to see if they are having problems with the valve and to see if they will help.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I had a problem with my ML106 but it was the opposite of yours. I had inadequate lifting capacity and the loader bucket would drop 1" per hour whether loaded or not. I took mine back within the 1 yr. warranty on hydraulic components (as per ML106 loader manual). The dealer replaced the joystick / control valve assembly with a different one. You probably have an internal leak on your control valve as well.

If the loader is lifting by itself when running, you probably have a loose screw under the cap that is on the end of the offending spool. Remove the cap and there is a little screw, allen head I think, and it is a little loose. Tighten and replace the cap and all is well.

I will take a look at it this weekend. Thanks for the help.

I took the ruuber cover off and there was no small screw or allen head screw to adjust. The lift works fine until the tractor runs for a few minutes then the lift starts to rise up.

I have been informed that Mahindra bought out KMW. I have a Great Bend loader on my 6000. Mahindra was using both in the beginning of their US market bid. They were buying so much stuff from KMW for their loaders they decided to buy them out. Thats what I have been told. Would explain why all thier stuff is KMW now.

Butch, it's not under the rubber cover, it is on the opposite end of the valve. It's a little hard to describe, but you will see a pair of caps.

How do you know?

I was also informed that Mahindra is opening a delivery warehouse in Grove City Ohio. That should eliminate a large portion of the shipping charges for folks in the area.

I have a 4500 with a great bend loader and have bent and or broken 4 of the upper bucket tilt cylinders. Mahindra says it is impossible to do. I say it isn't!

Last week when it happened I was backdragging a shallow creek, pulling the mud and weeds out during a dry spell, when I heard a big crack and one of the cylinders arms had bent and cracked in half.

Has this happened to anyone else??

Miami,

First of all, welcome to TBN. On your loader issue, absent a faulty cylinder (which is rare), this is normally caused by having the bucket cylinders too far extended while back dragging. I bent my first one about 20 years ago on my dad's 60HP IH. I had the bucket at a severe angle and I was backdragging like mad. It sure worked great until I bent a ram. That cost me about $250, and that was a LOT of money back then. I'm more careful now. This problem is not brand specific, it's more of an operator thing.
