I have an older “starter” tractor (NH tc29d) for landscaping and general gardening chores and have a plan, after I finish some projects at home, to use it to repair and build roads in the woodlot (100 acre hardwood) as well as bring out wood.

I can’t complain about it so far but I’ve been wanting a BH and foresee a bit more power wouldn’t hurt either, especially in the woods.

I have found advertised a 2014 LX4500 w/ BH with just 70 hrs, described as paint weathered but mechanically perfect. I have a hunch I can get it for under $30k but does this seem concerning for a lemon?

I assume it is tier 4 …I have no experience with the newer rigs, the NH is my 1st tractor and 1st diesel.

Wanted to see if I could get the thoughts of some of you with more experience so I don’t show up any more unprepared than necessary.

Note I edited production year, seems to be 2014, not 16

I have about 700 hours on my lx4500, I bought mine new in the summer of 2012. It is a tier III/interim tier IV engine which is desirable if you don't like DEF or regen. This model came out just before those inconveniences became common.

Generally I really like the tractor and the 4tnv88 engine is very well proven in lots of platforms.

I garage mine usually so I can't really speak to "leaving it outside in the weather" issues.

The only major issue I had, and I was told by the dealer that it has occurred on others, was a small screen internal to the hydraulic system can get loose and jam the three-point lift valve so it doesn't lift. Mine was repaired under warranty but it would probably cost about $1000 or so to fix out of pocket.

All other things considered, I've been pretty happy with the LX4500 performance, reliability, and handling.

I don't know the tractor but that seems really low hours for an eleven year old tractor. You might inquire how that happened. I believe 2014 or later is when they went to tier four. If it's got a DPF that will tell the tale.

Thank you both for the replies! I was hoping there’d be a little more presence here for this series of tractors.

I found a 2nd ad that describes it as a demo unit for a local water utility, which I suppose would explain things in part.
