We are looking at a new 2012 BX2360 and it suits everything we need it for. But I am concerned about the hydraulic squeal that this unit has when at 75% and above throttle. It is load enough to be almost painful without hearing protection, and that just doesn't seem right. The service man at the dealership says they all do that, but , while I would like to believe him, half of me is calling BS.

What have you guys come across?

Cheers,
John

I would try a different tractor if he has one on the lot if not try another dealer. We don't have a BX2360, but do have a BX2200 and 2660 and the level is not objectionable; about the same as our John Deere.

My new BX1860 does have a pretty good squeal to it like you described when you are using the FEL and have it under load. It works great though, and I couldn't be happier with it. I think you will love the BX2360, but I agree with TripleR in that you should check out a couple others so you will have no regrets when you do pull the trigger and purchase. I looked at the new Kioti CS2410 and really liked it, however I have a few trees to maneuver around to mow and don't have quite enough land to justify the larger tractor and the difference in money. For me, the size and price point of the BX1860 made it hands down the best for me. Best of luck to you and have lots of fun with it!

Thanks for your response. This squeal is not under load, this is all the time, and does vary in volume and pitch with the RPM.

I've never run mine higher than 2800 RPM and the noise is tolerable. Book says max horsepower is 2600rpm.

Looks like you already bought it. Some tractors will simply be louder than others; only way to know for sure is try a different one.

Some TBN members have posted a You Tube clip to help us understand.

It's been a while since I joined and I had either forgotten it was a requirement or it's changed.

I got the 1860 because if met all my needs at the time. If I did it over I'd do the 25 because I've found about 4 million uses for a backhoe.

I'd recommend you try a different one and see if both of them sound the same. If so, then it's probably OK but I've never experienced that loud of an issue with any I've owned but each individual has their own opinion of what is iritable/bothersome/aggravating. Doesn't sound right to me but you may be super sensitive to the frequency/pitch. The HST does have sound when driving forward and it's louder when in rabbit setting which I've rarely used other than moving on paved street..

This doesn't sound right to me. The HST will certainly make noise as you drive it around, but I'd call it more of a "whining" sound. You'd hear that with any HST tractor, any brand. You'd also hear it regardless of the RPMs while moving around. Some could be a bit louder than others I'm sure, and it can get louder if driving with higher RPM. But "squealing" doesn't sound right, especially if I understood you correctly and you only hear it once you hit 75% or greater throttle, whether moving or not.

I would call the noise the relief valve makes a definite "squeal", but you wouldn't be hearing that just running it and moving it around. You'd have to be doing something like continuing to press and hold the loader lever after the bucket has fully dumped or something like that - where the hydro pumps relief valve has to open to relieve pressure until you stop.

Pretty hard to tell unless we can actually hear what you mean by "squealing". I think if, as already suggested, you drive some other HST tractors and you hear the same type of noise it could well be the normal HST sound. Otherwise, seems perhaps there is something a bit off with that particular unit.
