I have a Kioti dealer fairly close by, but I haven't been there yet. At this point I'm just doing research. I find the Kioti website frustrating, it's poorly organized. Lots of pretty pictures though.

Questions so far:
* Are all models four wheel drive? It looks that way but they don't say anything about it on the website.
* Is it correct that the pricing doesn't include tires? They're listed as an option, but it's mandatory to pick one? Seems kind of weird.

What are people's thoughts on the different tire options?

I'm looking for something around 35HP with a hydrostatic, right now the CK's seem to be the best fit.

Thanks.

Agree with their website. It definitely needs improvement.

Yes

I didn't notice that but I did not build mine on the website. The dealer asked me what tires I wanted when I ordered.

Depends on what you are doing with it. I went R1 due to what I am doing with the tractor. R14 I have heard good things about.

On the website if you click on the ck series one of the first things before you scroll down and see the models you can download the brochure. On the last line of the transmission specs it shows the fwd.

As to the cost I find their build your own tractor pretty functional. If you add the tractor you want you will see the tire choices. I click on all of them and then scroll down to the bottom and can see the pricing. If I did it right they are all 2200 except for the r4s are 2400.

Unless you are on pavement the majority of time or don't want to mark your lawn with deep treads I would go with R1 tires. At the time I bought my tractor (2021) all tractors on the lot had R4 tires.
R1 tires will give better traction but ride rougher on pavement and mark the grass with deeper treads. Since almost all of my work is around timber or dragging gravel driveway I went with R1.
Even going across my yard I just wait until it dries out.

I went with R1's on my hx1151, but it is an ag tractor for me.

I suspect R1s, R4 and turf are same cost (at the listed pricing), with R14 a bit extra. Sometimes a lot extra.

My tractor was delivered with R14's at the same price as the one I tested on the lot which had R4's..?

I didn't even know they charged for the tires, LOL

CK4010. I went with R14 front and back. At 600hrs the fronts show considerable wear, back tires almost none. They seem to function ok, but the tread pattern (on the front) just doesn't have much surface area. Mostly loader work, some of it on concrete, almost no road time and no snow. When they are worn completely I will be looking at R4 for the front.

Are you in 4wd most of the time? The fronts 'pull' when you are and can slip more, causing increased wear.

But ya, if you are mostly doing loader work, I would be looking at R4's instead.

Actually I try to stay out of 4wd as much as possible. Only if the back wheels start to slip. A whole lot of wear can occur though if working on concrete, even if only a small percentage of the time (maybe 5% of hrs), and on only briefly at that. The R14s (fronts) just seem to be a little sparse on tread surface. Good for the turf, good traction, if only used on turf. The concrete just seems to be wearing on them 4wd or not. I do about 10cord of firewood/year. Split and toss on a large pile on a concrete pad, then load up a trailer in the spring and stack. The rest of the hrs are spent in the woods or yard.

IDK about Kioti, but the Kubota website also requires you to select the tires and wheels. The R1 is the standard option with no additional cost; the other options have up charges.

TYM didn’t have an upcharge for various tire types. I got the R4s, which have been fine. I might have done the R14s if I had done more research on tire types as much as the tractor itself. I’m not doing any work on pavement or concrete which are where R4s stand out for longevity. No regrets though.

As said above; because there are several tire options and tractors are shipped without rims and tires mounted, you need to choose which ones you want. If I remember correctly, I don't think there is an upcharge for any standard size. I know that the Kioti CK's use a larger tire then the Kubota LX's. But any dealer worth their salt can order you the larger ones for minimum upcharge. (I was comparing the Kubota and Kioti when i bought mine 2 years ago.)

I've got R14's on my CK3510 and they seem to be pretty good in snow. They don't seem to rip up the lawn much, but take that with a grain of salt because my lawn dries out very quickly.

I'd say go check out the new dealer and have him/her give you a quote. There so much more to a dealership then that, but that can give you a pretty good idea on how they are going to be. If they don't give a crap about a potential new customer....

You can also find out if you like 'how they operate', aka are they super formal, relaxed, don't care etc.

Years ago I stopped by a place where the sales guy was so laid back he didn't seem to care less if I bought from him or not. I was early in my search but def was going to buy, I just didn't know if it would be a between a smaller new unit or a larger used one. He didn't even give me a verbal quote. Since then they have lost out on 2 tractors, and a zero turn. Funny thing was, if he had given a crap, I would have bought the used unit that initially attracted me there, right on the spot.

have a CK27HST It does everything I need around here quite nicely. Hauling firewood, clearing windfall, gravel for 1/2 mile of driveway maintenance, chipper duty and honey do work. Is in 4WD all the time because of all the hills here. If not for traction 4WD for braking. It has R4's
