Box Scraper Land Leveler Build

/ Land Leveler Build #21
I have a Land Pride GS2584. At 800# it is a lightweight compared to what the OP is building. The replaceable cutting blades( 2 ) are mounted on angle iron. So the cutting blades are at a 45 degree angle - relative to the ground. Their angle across the unit would be 15 to 20 degrees - a guess. Angled across the unit because it's probably a more efficient way to cut into the dirt.

Mine has scarifiers. ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to get anything accomplished on my rock hard gravel driveway. Otherwise - without first using the scarifiers - the unit just bounces along behind the tractor. For three years I tried to get the LPGS to work - no joy. Then in desperation I used the scarifiers. It is now a very useful implement.

I drop the scarifiers about an inch and a half below the following blades/side skids. It scarifies and the blades level it out very nicely. In my situation there would be no need for a rear gate.

As an experiment - I've put 400#( a big pine log ) on top of the LPGS. It DID make the unit cut into the driveway - somewhat. Not near as good as using the scarifiers.

JMHO - if you are dealing with soft soil or a "soft" driveway - scarifiers may not be required. Otherwise - it will be a required addition.

BTW - what is your estimate of the final weight??
