there's a couple of plugged opening/holes in a black hydraulic hose block/hydraulic valve? What are they for///extra auxilliary outlets usable for a grapple??, possibly??

Can I use these outlets for an el. grapple valve supply ?
I obviously know nothing about hydraulics, but I need a grapple , so I have to get educated....and do it.

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks Kenny,
I want to buy some grapple hydraulic controls from Wikco....and they needed to know this.

Kenny,
I need to control a grapple arm somehow, up and down movement. I need a joystick or just a switch.....?

You can decide for yourself whether you want an additional joystick or a switch that operates from your existing joystick. On my L3400 I plumbed in an additional joystick for my grapple. My guess based on year old research is the switch will run you more money than another stick. Either way you go will work. Numerous owners have done this. I went with a tatro grapple which is a smaller two finger design because in my opinion a lot of additional weight up front was not desireable.

Joe.
If you have aux hydraulic ports you would not need an electric valve, this is normally used if you do not have, and do not want to add remotes. It gives you a split function of one of your loader circuits, usually the curl. (it is cheaper than installing remotes).

If you already have remotes all you need to do is plumb the ports from the rear to the front of your tractor. You can do this with hydraulic hose. The control is with the valve that activates the rear remotes it is already there. It's beside your seat but not really unhandy.
Typically a joy stick is used for two cylinder valves. Since a grapple is a single valve circuit I don't see what would be gained over a single lever control. KennyV.

Wayne,

I'll check tatro grapple. Will joystick be more reliable?? Or will switch be easier to operate? Where did you get these parts? Its not AG land/bus around here, so I am buying everything on the Net.

Kenny,

one thing more, it is my lock of knowlege and this specific terminologie, which got me confused. I am grateful for you help!!!! I will have to do a homework first. It may not be as complicated as it seems, but like everything else, easy, when you know what and how to do...anything.

thanks,
Joe

I think the first thing you need is to determine if you have auxiliary rear hydraulic remotes Can you post a picture of what you have?

Rear aux remotes will have a control lever on the right side of the seat.
If you have hydraulic ports for a backhoe you will not necessarily have a control lever.
Are the hydraulic ports coupled together at the rear? Backhoe ports normally must be coupled together when you remove the backhoe.

If you have a set of female quick couplers at the rear, you have aux hydraulic remotes. With these you already have a control lever, (it will be on the right side of your seat).

If you have a set of backhoe ports, one male one female, that are coupled together THEN you need a single power beyond control valve.

If you have no hydraulic ports other than your loader hydraulics. You can use an electric solenoid valve, this will give you split functions from your curl circuit, and is a LOT cheaper than adding a remote.

A joystick is normally used for more than a single valve. IT has two planes of operation. Front/Back, Left/Right. As in Down/Up, Curl/Dump. With a grapple control you ONLY have ONE valve it is Open/Close WHY do you want a multi function control lever for a single valve operation???

If you can identify the type of hydro ports you have I think you will be way ahead in this project, KennyV.

Thanks Kenny,

I am going to make a pic. eventually. The tractor is 30 miles from my house.
I was on call this weekend, no time.
