Found this one for 8 tires (which is what I have on my trailer) and a long distance range monitor.

Out of curiosity, for ones that want absolutely stripped trucks; you Are running hunt and peck transmission, no cab, no loader, and live PTO, right? Definitely no light bars, no HST, certainly no AC, or any of that?

Im OK with a more spartan tractor and heavy equipment than a vehicle im in many hours per day. Now, maybe some of this is a work truck, you're in it atleast 1000 hours per year. After that, you're in a personal vehicle for atleast several hours more per week.

On heavy equipment specifically; we never had cabs on most of it; ROPs, yes, cab and AC now, except track hoes and graders. With that, if the operator had a hoe closed up and AC on, on a pipe crew, operator is getting their butt drug out and beat... Loading trucks in a pit, sure; but if you have ground guys, your doors are open.

Im not saying we should have cabs on tractors or equipment, but just how bare bones are most of us Really willing to go?

Now, you want to talk about luxury and price creep; looks at UTVs/buggies/SxSs. We have one, but its got a bimini style soft rooms, and no wind shield, and thats about it; no screen (just the gauges, and the ability to switch though 3 sets if extra info; like hours/miles, engine temp, and ? a 3rd one i think). No heat, no AC, no radio.

Even with that, times I do wish it had a fold down or split windshield, and a hard roof. Never wished for a radio, heat, or AC in a SxS, or crusie control. Power steering, I do kinda wish it had at times

You ever look at the old truck interiors, and kinda wonder what was going on in their heads; red truck, red dash, red seats, red carpet

Also, I forgot about that double, slid out passenger side cup holder in the Dakota.

Well their bathroom was probably blue or purple so a red truck interior makes sense.

The external sensor may be worth it alone. Easy to screw on and monitor.
Tire shops on a 15 year old Toyota want between $400 and $500 to replace 4 OEM

Snow drift but worth mentioning sinc trailere tpms sensors are in the mix I think especially for those needing the expertise of dr. Rick on trailers I use my Milton brand tire gauge lol This spring bought a curt brand echo trailer brake controlle mostly for my wife's SUV. Cuz I'm somewhat apprehensive of touching any thing on that car especially wiring anyways Her car came with a 7 blade round but no factory brake controller. We have a 14' single axle micro toyhauler with a flip out bed for extra accomodations it has electric brakes also, we usually tow behind our small class c when outdoor adventures with all family members are involved, which also doesn't have a brake controller just a seven blade. The echo can be used with multiple vehicles, trailers, and pretty easy to set up with multiple adjustment parameters for brake adjustment on trailer and use with either my wives I phone or my android phones echo app. As long as your 7 blade has constant dc power to it it should anyway and you know how to enable your phones Bluetooth. So Take that Dr Rick 😂.

It's funny how often I see folks complain about modern trucks, and claim they just want "a basic truck like my 1978 Ford", only then to have the conversation head into everything from heated seats to TPMS sensors. Safety regulations that have adapted to mandate available technology aside, the reason manufacturers started including each of these features is because people actually wanted them! :p

I'm sure some rare odd guy has said, "no, I don't want heated seats or air conditioning," when configuring a vehicle build at their dealer. And I'm sure he's here and will tell us about it. But that weird minority isn't driving the market. :ROFLMAO:

And that's okay, I want every truck to have a big v8 with a manual transmission and a 4.11:1 rear end, and I know I'm in the minority there. It ain't gonna happen, in 2025!

Heated seats 😂 might as well throw in a heated steering wheel while your at it 😂. There's got to be others that want what I consider functional options to either help preserve the appearance of a more basic truck for ten or more yrs, aid in the basic use of truck like towing mirrors, or just want to splurge spending a hundred bucks and get a set of oem cab marker lights cuz I think they look cool lol. Do some want to spend what a more basic truck costs these days and forego options they may need in the future. For the prices trucks cost I want it to be multi functional. If in the future I ever wanted to put a plow on it but was to cheap to spend a little extra when I bought it and not get a snow plow prep package I'd kick myself.

When you see what some of these twin turbo straight sixes with 1/2 the displacement of your big V-8’s are going to have for horsepower, Dr. Rick may have to stop by and remind you that your parents Big V-8 isn’t what it used to be. 😁

Chrysler Hurricane twin turbo six can make 550HP. And it’s only been available for 3 years, so plenty of upgrades are coming.
Manual transmissions are history
4.11 rear might still be available, but most are now in the 3.xx range since engines are so much more powerful.

For gas engines, smaller 6 cylinder engines with turbocharging are going to be the way forward, if you like that “gas” thing.

Me? I prefer a large 6 cylinder turbocharged Cummins. 😁 Nothing like it in the world.

I have heated & cooled seats and a heated wheel in my Ram. Love ‘em.
I was a “stripped truck” guy for years. Now I like the comfort. I like the treat of after another hard day of work, riding home in luxury & comfort.

Maybe I should buy a 70’s Cadillac Eldorado with bull horns on the hood. 😁

Then Dr. Rick would have to stop at my house for an intervention.

Not on 15:yr old ,4 cylinder ,5 speed winter beaters only if your somewhat me mechanically inclined and tolerate a little older vehicles appearance and quirks it will have. Which in turn preserves the mechanical components and usefulness of buying a pricy 3/4 or 1 ton.which definitely imo shouldn't be used as a grocery getter or family school bus. I'm a two car individual these days a junker daily driver and a much pricier tow capable vehicle owner.

A buddy of mine owns a 1/2' ton Sierra power seat control module failed, me anyway I'd rather replace the brakes on a winter beater than spend the time and money it took replacing a power seat module under a shady tree a few summers ago. Manual seats are perfectly fine for me and they work.

Absolutely hate heated seats. Wife had them in a couple vehicles and would turn mine on without me knowing. Next thing I know I'm sweating and can't sit. First couple times took a bit to figure out why I was gradually getting warm.

Don't need air conditioning. My '99 CK3500 hasn't worked since I don't know when. The '99 2500 Dodge was deleted before I bought it last year. Our '01 Tahoe has air and it is handy since the driver window is permanently taped up and none of the driver window buttons work.

Have never bought a new vehicle and doubt I ever will but if I could I am the 0.01% that would be content with a plain jane truck where my only luxury is extended/4 door cab, 8ft box, am/fm, and throw in electric windows. I almost could do without heat but the windshield needs defrosted at times. Even during winter on manual controls the heat is only half way or if really cold full heat but no fan. Otherwise to hot

Wifes car has heated and cooled leather seats when I ride with her I let her control them for me or there's a good chance I've accidentally have the heat cranked on them when it's over a hundred degrees out lol.

I am still an absolute sucker for the “cat eye” duramaxes.
Wish I had 9 grand to buy this one. Plain jane, but love it.
IMO, nicest driving trucks ever built.

I like TPMS. Sure, maybe its not 100% reliable, but neither is a tire gauge. Sure, we all always check our tire pressure... before every trip. Even when required to do a pre-trip, we all actually do it before checking the box, right;)
Every month I manually check my tires on my daily driver car. It has TPMS but no read out and if it did would only use it to see a 1 PSI difference and I would have to check all my tires. Same tire gauge every time for as close to consistency as possible. Also with major temperature variance that looks to extend in to the near future I will adjust tires as needed

Few times I have to drive her car I can't even control the radio my favorite radio station plays 80s and 90s rock and alternative try putting that station on her cars infotainment screen I get kids bop or worse on her sirius xm. All I want is my conventional radio station. My 2016 Sierra came with a month of free sirius xm. I never even used or activated it.
