We are getting our haying equipment ready for first cut. Pictured is my 13 foot throat J.D. Mower/Conditioner hooked to the back of my 5030 Kubota. Orange and Green really don't look bad together.

The mower conditioner combines a mower and a crimper. A crimper crimps the hay between two rollers for faster drying. It also deposits the hay in a windrow, saving a step if not tedding.

I posted this thread in the spring. Old threads revived!! Anyway, you could run the MoCo with a much smaller tractor, it doesn't take much horsepower. The tongue weight is the killer. About 1200 pounds with the arm extended. The MoCo makes for a smooth ride on uneven ground with the 5030's short wheelbase.
