JD 1020 power steering

My experians is that that tractor did not came out with powersteering...is there a feedpipe on the right bottom side of the steeringcollom ? Or only a plug ? Is there a plug halveway up the steeringcollom facing backwards ? Then it can be of a lack of oil ?

If tractor came with manual or open center steering then a different pressure line would need to be installed for CC power steering

I have a question:what is the function of the shims from the steering column - with these codes - T25741, T22825 and T31290 -? I observed that they have different diametres - are they serving the calibration or do they have other similiar function?!

Totally there are 6 pieces / 3 pieces for each steerin control unit (AL26312 and AL26311).... After me its important how do we put in order the different diameter of the shims after each other?! (The shims diametres are: 0,5 mm, 0,1 mm and 0,25 mm)..................

According to JD the shims all have the same ID & OD but different thicknesses. I have no idea of the shims function other than limit travel of the individual(LH/RH) steering valve bodies

Finally - I found what the problem was caused by......................

The T25325 piston and the T25323 rod are assembled with screw thread................AND this screw thread sometime broke as I can see on the attached pictures....




Look at one original new piece and my broken one:

.............. On my piece there is not any screw-thread............

This meant that the piston was only sliding without working as a servomechanism assisted power steering...... Only the manual steering was working.........

If I observed this problem earyler - it would not be necessary to dissamble the whole inside piece PS column .....
Now - I will replace the piston with a new one, and after it I assemble the PS column again - and I hope it is going to work well...........:confused3:

i have a john deere 1520 tractor, the hydraulics are not working properly. the power steering, and hydraulics will not go up steadily, after a few minutes it will start to slowly lift, and than it will come and go. Had the filter changed and screen cleaned about 8 months. I know where the filter is located but don't know where the screen is located. Could this the problem again.

Go under your tractor at the rear and look for a plug with a 1/2' sq. Use only youe powerbar and undo that plug. Remember to drain the oil first

Hi..... the screen is located behind the hyd oil filter case - as you can see on the attached photo..

Or - it is possible that the oil transpump is not working well and from this reason the frontal principal oil pump is not getting enough oil.....

Do you have enough hyd oil in the system????!!!

Before even considering replacing trans pump one needs to perform correct diagnostic procedures!!!! Several hyd pumps have been replaced to find out that the hyd pump that was replaced was not causing the problem.

Before I crank it up this day, the oil level was on the full line on the dipstick. When this problem started about 15 minutes into my mowing, I noticed that oil would come out of the dipstick hole when you took the dipstick out with the lift arms in the down position.

Please, give me the next JD piece exact sizes: power steering seal - T22260........... in mm or inches.... Its seems that the PS now is working, but the upper seal
T22260 is broken after few second...

Hi,
I have a new problem..... Under the tractor, behind the hydraulic oil filter case there is a piece, as show on the attached pictures... And from that piece the hyd oil is leak... But in the JD catalog parts I dont find this pieces name in english... and thats why I dont know what type of gasket should I use there.... Please, help me to identify this pieces on the online JD parts catalog.........................

Finally, I identifyed the mentioned piece, is the flow control valve - R39273...

After the pictures, it does not exist any special gasket, there are only two O-rings: a bigger one (the yellow one) and a small one, as you can see on the attached picture...

The problem is, that I am not able to identify the rings code. I searched in the JD online parts catalog, but there are more than two O-rings so I am confused....

After you - what are the codes of the two O-rings from the piece picture????? (U15415, or R26375, or T13119 or which one)??

The smaller one should be R28776 and the larger one should be R60332.

Although I agree that R60332 will fit correctly the parts catalog for historyan1975's tractor shows U15415 because I think his tractor was built for European sales.1st photo is spec's for U15415,2nd photo is spec's for R60332,3rd photo is spec's for R26375,4th photo is spec's for T13119

than the R60332 and the U15415 o-ring are the same?! There are identic? An other question / I know the inside diameter but what does the nominal section mean? The o/ring thickness or what? From where should I found the outside diameter?

Or, the best it would be to dissamble first and measure it for the exact sizes with calliper-square? If the durometer is 75 and 90 that means that its a very durable (rubber) material (if I know well - the most durable is the 100 on the Shore A-scale)..........

I have a question: I refilled the missing hyd oil level (JD Hy-Gard oil) with Triax Tractor Fluid Oil......


Did I do a good thing? I hope within a few days I will received the new set of O-rings for the oil flow control valve and the leaking will stop.....:confused3:
