"L" is designed to be utilized for all ground engaging implements such as plows/disk harrows & allow tractor hyd mechanism to control 3 pt/implement height. "D" is designed for all other functions such as operating a mower or blade where operator desires to control height of 3 pt & attached implements. "L/D" is a less sensitive setting than "L".

Hi,
I have a new problem with a stering arm from the front axle as you can see on the attached short video.

The triangle shaped bellcrank is clicking very much on its own hole/caliber.
What could I do?
I suppose I should repair/replace the bush between the stearing arm pin and the caliber/ or I need a pair of new needle bearing acording to the photo?

Whether your 1020 will need bushings or needle brgs on bellcrank shaft will be determined by tractor serial #. Bushings up to SN _-062660 & needle brgs SN 062661-

Thanks.. On my tractor I cant see the serial number plate.. But its made in 1972, theoratically the serial number sholud be starting from the number 134700.... Am I right_?!
According to your advice I need to buy the needle bearing?

How did you determine your 1020 was built in 1972 without having access to tractor serial #? Did you look on RH side of trans case for serial # tag? I agree 1020's built after mid-1968 should have needle brgs in this application.

I have the original tractors papers from Germany (register, stud book).

So registry book doesn't contain tractor serial #? I'll guess your tractors serial# is not legible or missing!

My German heritage didn't allow me to know tractors built in Germany had a book of origin. My grand parents immigrated from Germany to USA & spoke very fluent German.

You have right... I will check it... I live in Romania, but I am hungarian... I understand Englush but I cant speak... Here also lived germans.. . Transylvania, Siebenbürger... My grandgrandfather worked in USA, between 1909 and 1928, in Detroit, but he returned. We have relatíve in USA

JD utility tractors built for sales in N America didn't have serial on RH front frame until later model 2030. It appears to me that your tractor should be a 1973 model.

Hi, I checked again the tractors docs, I found that is dated from 1975 / or at least the end of year 1974.
i dont understand / according to the Tractordata.com page, the 1020 type was made only till 1974... Then, whick information is the right one?

Due to JD 1020 utility tractors being produced in 2 different factories & countries(Dubuque,Ia & Mannheim,Germany) for 2 different sales locations(N America & European) over 45 yrs ago correct information tends to get cloudy. Next model(1030 series) shows to begin in 1973

Hello...
Today we removed the tractor front axle. As I see a lot of pieces are overused / bushes, washers, pin, bellcrank-pin...
I try to buy same new pieces / as bellcrank AR53392, or only stearing arm pin, as you can see in the photos..
We also buy needle bearing, but the problem is that the caliber of the stearing arm pin is very damaged / sometime, somebody, somewhere already fixed it, but in verry amateurish way - the bushing is made of useally everyday used gray iron...
So we need to improvise, because it cant be fixed only with a original new buogh pieces... we have to make new bushings.

Other problems: in the front wheel axe, both sides - all the pieces are overused. Washers, bushers and bearings - from knuckle, axle knee. We ordered new pieces, but I hardly could identify the front axle type: 02F15 (60-36), or heavy duty axle 02F17...or.....from the JD parts online catalog (attached photos). Finally, I measured the front axle knuckle diameter and that was the way how I identifyed the correect axle type, I suppose so.
So I ordered these pieces: bearing JD8407, bushers T21539, washers M2282T and M2283T....

For the bellcrank - steering system: needle bearings JD9911, bushers T23170 and T23118, pin T21669, bellcrank AR53392...

I hope I did not was wrong (not very match).
