It Arrived.........

The YM14 i bought arrived this morning at 7AM, very happy to see it. not as good of condition as was explained to me but thats what happens when you buy sight unseen and want something in particular.(i must have a Yanmar!!) now i would like to find a service manual for it as i would like to give it a good once over.:thumbsup:most of it is very original,tyres,seat(which i have already bought a new one) and the air element has been in there sice 1992........ not very well serviced i think. it does run pretty well so a good service should see her purring for many years to come.

I understand your concern for the air cleaner not have been serviced. But by the condition of the seat I think it has been sitting in the sun for many hours.The tires or ( tyres ) look ok so I do not think it has been around the globe several times. The deck condition will also give a hint of its past life.
Not sure about this ( Put another shrimp on the barbe ).

What is the little 2 that is not even level with the 14 in the model #? It makes it look like someone wanted it to be a 142 and changed it?

Yeah i wondered that my self until it got here, its a YM14 MkII. thats what the little sticker is, it matches the rest of the big sticker as it appears to be manufactured in January 1988 by the plaque i found on it and its up in the 25,000s for a serial number so it must be one of the last of that series made. do we have a resident expert on the GT and YM14s around?

heres a few more snaps. the decomp is the lever on the lower left and the power shift lever lockout is the hook that is under the steering wheel.i removed the stupid pushbutton start they had rigged up and reconnected the ignition key.i will give her a good service now and then put her to work.i have also bought a new seat so that will go on shortly too.

Now thats COOL.Nice mower. From looking at the pics esp.the last one.It won't be long, But it's going to be the perfect size for the one on the Bike. I bet they are checking it out Hard.

HaHa, yeah my daughter is only 4 and asking me when she can drive the tractor. She also twigged that its doesnt look like my tractor(my 1500) but i told her it was its little sister. i may have some good news too,i rang yanmar australia and they found a YM14 service manual on disc, he said he will copy it and send it to me. what a nice bloke he is. also most parts are still available so thats also good to know.

i finally introduced them today, i dont think the 1500 was jealous
the 70s front is still better than the 80s version i think too :thumbsup:

Have you actually tried ordering parts for it yet? I think you're going to be very dissapointed when you do...

Every dealer I've asked has said yes, except Jamieson and Hoye. When I tried to order anything other than filters, all the other dealers came back and said parts weren't available... Jamieson and Hoye already knew this..

I'm not aware of many parts being available at all for our little GT's. At least not here in the states, or in England, as I've tried over there as well..

Yeah did ask them what was available, they said some bits are still available but until they tried to get them from Yanmar Australia they couldn't tell me exactly. i knew this before i bought it so no real surprise for me.
