No one has talked about rusty wire in a Mig . AMig has to be out of the weather or the wire will rust and not feed. I have 3 migs 1 is 110 volts 1is 24volt battery powered (2-12volt batteries or 24 volt heavy equipment and 1 220 volt. I will still use my 220 volt stick if I won't something to last forever. I use a 110 v inverter in most of my work which is all 16 ga. My welds on the 16g don"t have to look prettie but they must hold.

Stick welders should be out of the weather as well. There are a lot of components that can stick or go bad due to being out and exposed.

For the type work you are saying that you need to do Go Stick, If You have the Extra Money Go AC / DC 220 stick, working on broken Equip. you will be better off going stick, and it can set there a Month or a Year and it is Ready to go, just keep ypur Roda Dry, By going AC/DC you will have a choice of 2 great rods 6011 & 7018 You have to keep those 7018 rods dry, the 6011 are not as bad about moisture, you can just keep them open in the shop, but the 7018 are anothe rstory
