Is a BX tractor right for me?

Go with 6. I have 4 fter and with it angled, it really sucks in dirt and snow.

I use a 48"; 60" might be OK, but I wouldn't go any bigger. I used a 60" with my BX2200 and didn't like it, so I got the 48"; works for me.

I have a friend just bought a BX2660 with mmm. He is looking at getting a bb. I feel a 6' blade is not too big for dragging sand around his place on level ground or grating the drive. All the salesmen want to sell him a 4' based on tire width. I feel this is because many folks will snag things due to not being able to operate the equipment properly, not based on equipment capability. I used a 6' blade on a smaller, lighter 21hp 2wd and steered with the brakes. I just can't see a 4'. What do most of you guys use with your BX models?

I'm using a 5' boxblade behind my BX23...Have had no problems with it.

I'm not saying it won't work but I believe a 6'er would be really big for a BX. This might be one of those "underpowered" issues that will require buying a bigger tractor to handle the implement and that's OK if one is seeking that. In this case I would rather have one the tractor can really utilize most of the features of the implement capably and I believe the BX can a 4'er and maybe a 5'er but I believe the 6 would really stretch it. Let me do a disclaimer here, if your just dragging the blade with the teeth removed then the 6' will probably work but if your doing that then a 6' blade would work and be cheaper. If the teeth are dropped much I believe it will just spin the tires on the 6'er.

JT is right. My neighbor has a B7510 and bought large implements, even for his tractor. I borrow some of his implements from time to time. Gotta tell you, I much prefer having properly sized implements on my BX. When I use his 6" rake, and it loads up? It is a bear.

Ok- let me revise what I said before- A back blade in snow, its better with 5 or 6 fter. The same blade in dirt in heavy clay , its really better with 4 ft as you can keep things moving along instead of boggin down.

All I can say here is that it all boils down to what are you going to use it more then 50% of the time for ? Are you adding teeth like box blade, yeah 4 fter is better with BX. not enough weight.

I bought a BX2350 in June 2008. I should have done this years before, even if it had been an older series BX. I cannot say enough about how much work this unit will do.

Look at what you want to do 80-to-90% of the time and get something for that. I am more than satisfied with my 50-series unit. If you are shopping used, drive it. Back up in high range and then let off the HST and see if the stop is too abrupt. If not, that unit could be a keeper. A few people have had problems with too-quick stopping in high range (not a problem in low range).

Good luck with whatever choice you make.

And, LB, glad to see you're up and running. Would that you could last as long as those three BXs of yours. Nice to see your contributions. Just wishing you well.

Had one and the problem was in low range, never tried high. Bad enough for me to trade it off after 30 hours.
Ditto on LB's recovery and well wishes.

LB are you deaf or what? Maybe your just ignoring me. Where are those side by side pictures of the tires on your stable of "little" BX's?
