How to keep from gouging trees

Put electronic sensors like are on the cars for backing up. Then when you get close it will start beeping at you.

I have seen some of the pull behind trail mowers with one, two, or three wheels mounted horizontally on the sides of the mower deck. The one at the front corner helps to push the mower away from the tree, while the wheel just rolls on the side of tree protecting it. A picture is worth a thousand words here, but after a quick search, I couldn't locate. Maybe someone here has a pic of what I'm trying to describe??
