3-Point Hitch hitch wont go down

I have a 492 MF and it just recently got to where the 3 pt hitch will not go down. When the tractor is off it goes down due to a small seal leak. As soon as i start the tractor the hitch goes up, even when it is in the down position. I have checked the oil level and it appears fine, even though its hard to see on the stick. Any suggestions?

Try turning the little knob sticking out from under the seat counterclockwise.

Offhand, it sounds like a linkage problem. Follow the linkage path to the pump. Disconnect the attachment point and see if you can manually move the actuator. If it is frozen in the LIFT position then something is amiss on the inside of the system.

If that makes no difference, then it must be an internal issue with the pump. Maybe time for a rebuilt one.

I don't have anything under the seat that I am aware of, except the seat adjustment lever

If it has draft control push the draft control lever all the way down

Draft control is down, I have tried every position on the controls. I will start with gwdixon advice, thank you all for the help!
